  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Advice needed: Transferring HDCAM SR tapes to HDD...

He has 4 hours of footage...sounds about right.

We have all the gear to do this, and its a service we offer. Www.digitalservicestation.com. We would capture via kona3 to our raid, then copy to external drives and ship to you. The biggest issue will be that you will need something really fast on the playback side- and you'll need the AJA codecs, which I believe are free.

880 does seem unlikely, but we can do that if that's what it really is. Other issues would be customs and shipping, but I'm betting were cheaper than soho post houses... By far, even with the devalued pound.

You can probably do this yourself with time and patience, and the right drives. I belive the new BMD does dual-link (and 3g, which the 5800 does, if you have the latest software) but don't have personal experience with it. We've done great with the Kona3.

Email me direct if you want a quote. I forget to check for pm's

Bon Chance!

Here in LA, that deck is a grand a day, which is about what it would cost for us to do the capture- plus you need the drive space, which we can sell you cheap, but not fast enough for real-time playback.

I hadn't thought about having the transfer done in the US... This sounds like a better option.

An e-mail is on its way to you now, Greg!
