So, I logged into a screenwriter's forum, where an advertisement was posted in the header. 'Learn screenwriting in a year at award-winning school - bla, bla, bla'. I was also watching a few AGT videos on YouTube, and the exact same ad popped up on the very next video.

Coinsidence? Is it me or is that just too weird? All inter-connected?

Your web/browsing history is dictating the Ads that are being chosen by the site you're visiting or that Youtube tags to the start of your chosen content.

Try spending an hour surfing and looking for something spurious (that you wouldn't normally look for - like dog-food?) then you'll find you get targeted with ads for that product or something similar.

that's why there's so much money in the Google/Facebook/etc world - as the profile of each user is a direct advertising goldmine.

I always know when my other half has been using one of my laptops for browsing, as I'll suddenly notice Amazon or Next (etc) trying to sell me dresses or high-heels or get beauty products via Youtube ads. Now, they're all very nice, but not really my cup of tea. LOL.

Even if you have the browser history turned off?

Funny on the ladie's gear. I get veternarian stuff, bugs and parasites.

Your browser history allows YOU to look at what you've looked it. Does not determine whether or not Facebook/Google/Others are keeping track.

It's like your dental records. You may remember that you had XRays done the last time you went. But your dentist *has the XRays* from the last time you went. If you get amnesia and forget that you ever went to the dentist, that doesn't remove the XRays from his/her records.
