  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe's prototype "19d" lens

I remember this being posted here last year, if not 2008.

3D could benefit from this.

Large sensors with HUGE resolution would also serve this well since the image squares generated by the lens are so tiny (I presume). So something between EPIC 645 and 617 would be great for this.

oct 9th 2007??

oh dang, i hadn't noticed that, someone else posted it on fb or twitter and i'd never heard of it. I wonder what has happened to this tech in the last 3 years?

19 images on ....what sensor would that be? Stills only? How would this work on motion with every image made from a different angle?
A decent workaround for many still shots is to simply take a number of shots ("identical") with different planes in and out of focus. Drop them onto a P/S canvas, in order of sharp to out of focus, and brush away (eraser) till your heart's content.
And try different layer opacities for further refinement. It's as easy as this demo method. This demo lens will make the technique possible with handheld camerawork and moving subjects.

24fps: rack focus in and out, choose your in and out of focus frames and do as above.

Placing (registering) a sharp image on top of a softer one and setting the layer opacity to suit your taste, can produce beautiful quality effects- soft, hazy and yet detailed- and you can always paint in the sharp image or parts of it to suit your taste.

I read an article about this a few years back in popular science. Cool stuff, I would not use it, hell I am still shooting film but it is interesting to see how the technology is advancing.

eventually this technology could be used for interactive films..

You could be home watching a movie and have a mouse wheel of sorts.. and choose where you want to view the shot from.. every time you watch the movie, it could be different

Yeah, we could see the other side of Batman, the dark side. (:
