  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe will rule all. Trust me

It would be great to see some kind of raw video format from Adobe similar to what that have for stills that you could color grade in lightroom. This may be the beginning and would really put Adobe on top if they did it right.

Yeah....

What I can't understand is why nobody makes a B&W plugin for NLE's like the numerous still-photo B&W plugins made for Photoshop and stand-alones. Whoever with the knowhow and if they design a good platform will make a mint. Perhaps this Adobe product will be the one.

First time caller, long time listener. Now I'm a user and a member. What!
Matt Steinauer, Jeffrey V, Ramon? Any of you big brain on brad's seeing this?
Tired of my frickin AC's being so much smarter than me....

What's up Keith. We met once through Emily and Lena on some job at Smashbox a couple years back. Jackson gaffed a couple of my jobs long ago. Glad to see you around here, I'm a fan of your work & am always happy to see OTMFC around.

As for the A/C's... if you figure it out let me know because I've got the same problem ; )

I don't get it.
So now you'll be able to ingest and catalog H264 videos into Lightroom, so...
You can ingest and manage videos into iTunes right now, and so is an upcoming AppleTV, so...
All they said, "A second beta of Lightroom 3 due Monday will get the ability to import and manage videos". So, even if you may be able to adjust some colors in the Lightroom, so, does that mean, that all of a sudden it becomes a color grading app? I just don't think, that the announcement is that big of a deal.
Also, it's not up to Adobe to create some kind of RAW video format, as Adobe doesn't make any cameras. Adobe didn't come up with R3D, Red did... If and when Canon, Nikon or however else deems necessary to create a camera with such capabilities, I'm sure Adobe and everybody else will support it...

hey mikie what is up my brotha? funny how shiat works out sometimes! lol, as in this and my case. i just spent the last 3-hours trying to "navigate",learn, get lucky i guess with this thing/website (would this be blogging?) my pal matt has been hounding me to do for years. as much as i cant stand the face book generation and the computers i have to do it on, to be somebody's friend, and/or to stay in tune with pop culture,,, as proven tonight with my 3 and a half hour long anxiety test. and well whaddya know,mr nay sayer here got not only a response, but some real kind words to boot!! thanks for that mikie, you my have made me a believer. lol. momentarily anyways.its takin me this long just to reply to your kind post. ahhhhh, why cant it all just be as easy as painting with light pal, huh? lol, anyway brotha hope you and yours are well and you are staying busy which im sure you are cause ive said no thank you or i cant to more work this year then ever before. we should grab a drink sometime, maybe meet my dream team, cause although DJ and i had a good run, my current gaffer and close friend
Mikie P would make even Deakins just that much better! cant wait to show you some of the stuff we've canned recently. nevermind the shiat we're building both lights and camera rigs. its good to be OTMFC is all im sayin pal! lets get up and get down, soon? before i and this computer jump out my window!!!

there is nothing to the announcement of Light-room beta 3. Just the fact that we know its potential and we are glad Adobe see that it can blossom into a full blown DI color lab. All they need to do is add mercury accelerated video import, a Layered timeline like Eyeon Generations, a reference viewer window, Scopes, EDL, AAF, XML, CinemaDNG mastering and a plugin SDK that allows third party plugin manufacturers to write mercury accelerated plugins and "voila do nothing else". the Plugin manufacturers will fill in the blanks. Its all about architecture and interface, something Adobe is very clever at doing.

Plus keyframing methods, trackers, three-way control, color wheels, advanced selection of seconderies, multiple vingettes, DPX export and workflow between Lr-Pr-AE,,
at the end change the app name to Lightroom DI and sell it for $20K :sifone:

Nope LR3 is still very much stiils orientated, you cant really do much with video at all in it other than watch it. I've been using it for a few months now.

Guys.
You do know about private messaging, right?

Aperture already does this and does it quite well. And just like Lightroom will do in version 3, really not all that useful to people more involved in video.

Doesn't Magic Bullet do all this as a plug-in for FCP and soon Redcinex?

seems to work well for me.... Color is still my fav though.

add plug-ins as you like in FCP.. and it will still be far beyond perfect..
FCP is an excellent editing application to get an edl out of it.. but.. NOT a final image output especially when you speak big res and big depth..

Color is simply fine.. but is very sloowwww.. you have to wait for a loooong render line to see a preview.. didn't try the new vesion..

After Effects does work. If you're fast with curves and work in 32 bit - it does a lot on jobs where a colorist is out-of-budget

I love this idea. I use Lightroom daily, and I find it it's color correction tools to be superior to any video/film color correction software I've ever used. That being said, the lack of keyframing and such will limit its usefulness initially.

Praying for RED RAW support in Lightroom!
