Lol, Real Men edit their own stuff. :)

Do you think Kubrick or Malick or Wong Kar Wai or Ron Fricke would let some pimple-face punk cut their pictures? Editing is where much of the magic takes place.

Real Men also edit NATIVE r3d files! When supported :)

I have been using Premier CS3 for about 8 months and I love it. I have abandoned my Avid. Premier is much more intuitive than Avid and does not require this mode and that mode to do simple things. Avid's program monitor is very sensitive to anything and will stop playing if you breath too hard.

I do like Avid's color corrector.

But I bought Premier because I needed to import P2 HD footage which my version of Avid did not support at that time. I love the way Premier handles P2. Even better than FCP which requires "log and transfer".

I am running it on an AMD quadcore/ASUS MB with 4 gigs of Ram under XP Pro. It doesn't bobble with 1080P or 720P. I have experimented with Cineform and like it but don't see it as necessary if Red comes through.

I am looking forward to this Red Plug in. I am shooting a documentary in L.A. next month and plan to Shoot on Red and post in Premier. I am driving out from Atlanta with my whole editing rig, lighting package, electric, and grip gear.

I've never used Avid so I can't speak to it's color corrector but within PP or AE, I find the Synthetic Aperture's Color Finesse offers far greater control than the color correction native to Premiere.

Wow, awesome, Jarred!

How is the performance in terms of real-time editing, playback, etc?

Sweet. Thanks Jarred.

Not sure if this was discussed, but what sort of R3D+Premiere "Real Time" performance can I expect from a quad or dual quad pc? Is this a video card issue as well (I've got an Nvidia 3500)? I also have a quad mac/FCP, but I'm curious about this Premiere workflow and performance.

that's what I'm talkin bout!

is it okay for me to say FUCK YEAH - NOW WE'RE TALKIN!!!! ??

go ahead i just did...besides the colorful stuff

I have an excuse to go to happy hour now!!!!!!!

Remember.. this is first release and not optimized so its not as fast as it will be..

That said, as you can see in the preference tab ( which you get when you double click on a file ) you can change your resolution down to a realtime size and cut away, then after the cut go back into the tab and to a global full resolution toggle for output.

Awesome.

Maybe it will no longer be called "The Workflow"... but just...

"The Flow"

It's going to get so easy, it'll be like saying, "I'm in the Zone"... but instead...

"I'm in the Flow." :)

So does anyone know how, once I'm done cutting in Premiere, how do I get it into Color?

<imagining myself cutting Scarlet footy (in realtime)> .... yeah... sounds good to me...

exciting times.

Later,
Jason
