I shoot outside...

I have the world's worst "farmer's tan" to prove it. Heh.

Jarred, will the Alpha/beta have sound support? or not yet?

Not in the Friday importer, but Sound should be supported shortly after this first release.

Hm, if the plugin can export additional saturdays it will be a extreme success with berlins post-pro-crowd :)

Everything's getting audio support soon.

Additional Saturdays and Sundays (the temporal field distorition generator) is a proprietary RED secret.

Wow reading these threads has made me gravely disappointed in apple with there delayed support for RED I remember 2 years ago they where supposed to be the first now they are the last. Damn that Iphone!!! for rediricting apple from the professionals.

The Apple pro gear seems to be packed away in the back corner, these days, and the phone is everywhere. It's a problem. I love Apple for being on board with Red so early, and I love that Color will read the raw files soon. But I'll be using the Adobe stuff from Friday onwards, and Final Cut will have a rest. It'll be interesting to use Color Finesse 2.0 in After Effects and compare it to Color.

I'm interested to try out this Adobe workflow as well, but I caution everyone that there is still a lot to be determined as far as how it all integrates. Let's make sure we give it a good test run and see where the chips fall.

Steve I am pretty sure we will all be giving it a 'test run' :)

I'd say Real Men go out and shoot, and have a Beer afterwards :)

Leave the editing to those white skinned guys :w00t:

EDIT/Clarification: I meant to say: light skinned, as from sitting inside editing all day long, as opposed to having a tan from being outside and filming. My bad.

Lol, Real Men edit their own stuff. :)

Do you think Kubrick or Malick or Wong Kar Wai or Ron Fricke would let some pimple-face punk cut their pictures? Editing is where much of the magic takes place.

Why R3D is low on Apple's priority list

Why R3D is low on Apple's priority list

I know, a couple of people have said it before: Apple is more interested in their iPhone line than in the Pro apps. So far I didn't (want to) believe it. But then I read this, and am slowly contemplating a switch to Premiere:
“Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant that produces the iPhone 3G for Apple, has ramped up production to 800,000 units per week, says a source close to Apple with direct knowledge of the numbers.

It is sad that it seems as though Apple is losing it's foothold in the pro arena.

OK - my copy of Premiere Pro has arrived. It's ok to release this now - thanks for waiting for me.

Martin, I think you are right. I thought the same thing when I read that quote on macrumors. Even though the pro apps are in a separate division at Apple. I have decided to make the switch to Adobe. Anyone want to buy my Apple FCS software?

Also very very true.

...And regarding the best OT comment - I think that one was given to the guy on the Red Ranch thread asking about female chat partners, lol.
...

I think that "guy" was a female looking for some other supportive females on this testosterone drenched forum! At least that's how I read it! :whistling:

I know I've said they don't care about Pro Apps anymore - but at the same time I have to think... with 800,000 FCP licenses out there it's still enough margin to support a very active developer team if they chose to. I don't understand that.

But at 800,000 iPhones a week it makes sense where the company focuses it's attention. On the third hand, they could pull profit from iPhones and subsidize ProApps for positioning/marketing purposes.

But in the end, Adobe's entire focus is their creative line and serving Pros. I'd assume we'll see them adding a CC solution, a 3D solution and probably a nodal based compositing solution and integrate those with the entire suite.

My experience with Adobe has been excellent for the most part. The main thing I don't like are AE's painting, cloning, and supercloning tools.

For illustrations I have always used Photoshop and Illustrator. Usually going back and forth between both apps within the same project.

For desktop publishing I used Quark for a while, but then moved to InDesign about a year ago. Haven't looked back since. If I get a project that was started in Quark, I use a plugin to convert it to InDesign.

While I've never used Premier Pro, from what I hear I haven't missed much until now.

Also, I think it's great that Adobe bought Macromedia. Macromedia's Dreamweaver was much better then Adobe's GoLive. I think they made the right decision to kill off GoLive and integrate Dreamweaver with the other CS3 apps.

The CS3 Master Collection is one of the best values of any software package that I know of. As long as you use even just a few of the apps regularly.
