  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 announced. many updates

I notice it also supports the new color science; so does that mean that CS5 will never support the new color science unless you upgrade?

I have been on the cusp of buying CS5 for about a week now after finding a smoking great deal online... then today I thought maybe I'll wait till CS5.5 comes out and hopefully the online retailer will offer it for a similarly great deal... but I just came across this little tidbit...

Article: Grace Period for Free Upgrades to Adobe Creative Suite 5.5

So I just posted on that site: Just wondering if this a valid option if not purchasing from Adobe directly..?

Hoping for a reply there... or perhaps someone here could chime in.

Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to others here looking to do the same...

This is correct. Sorry there are strange reasons why we can't but I would have it I could have. However, 5.5 is worth the entrance fee.

Cheers

Dave

If you edit Red a lot I's say CS5.5 upgrade is worth its weight in gold in a single long day.

I too am wondering about the above question, in addition to...

Will CS5 be able to use the new Epic plugin (and eventually the Scarlet plugin as well?) or is it mandated that I need to upgrade to CS5.5 in order to get these additional features? I tried searching around for the answers prior to posting this, so sorry if these questions have been already asked elsewhere, I did attempt to find them. I am mainly trying to figure out if the upgrade is essential for Red workflow purposes or if I can delay on my upgrade...

One more quick question: I read that I need to upgrade my Adobe Suite every 2 versions or I risk not being able to continue my liscense with further future updates. Now that there will be mid releases how does that effect how often I need to upgrade to keep my liscense upgradable(ness) cycle wise? I notice your letting CS3 versions get away to CS5.5 upgrades. Will this 2.5 version cutoff cycle continue? I also heard a rumor from a Best Buy employee that CS6 won't be released for Mac, but he told me that literally a week before CS5.5 came out for Mac so I sort of doubt it now...

Thanks!

Best Buy employees have told me a lot of things over the years and they have a tendency to be completely wrong. I'd wait for official Adobe press releases as source of information. :-)

We are not releasing Epic support for CS5. There are too many core changes that support our ongoing work to release new tech for old versions. There are also more complicated reasons than that. So if you want Epic you need 5.5. You can be absolutely certain we are going to continue to support the Mac. Do don't trust Best Buy on that...

Cheers

On the trial version of CS 5.5, I can't read Scarlet R3Ds. :(

How do you and can you get smooth playback on a macbook pro with cs5.5 and epic footage. What are the settings for 1080 playback?

thanks
