  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe + Epic Sneak!!!!

David, have been editing recently a lot with CS5 PPro & AE and have missed a button to read the RMD file for all R3D-files of the project at once. In large projects it's rather tedious to load the RMDs one by one, and moreover, it becomes easier to make mistakes when repeating the same thing over and over again.

It sounds like quite a number of people out there are still on CS4 from what I've been reading on this and other boards. If you can afford the upgrade, I highly recommend CS5, it's leaps and bounds ahead of CS4 especially in terms of speed and the newish Roto Brush in After Effects is very handy in a pinch.

Is apple the old Fart?

Is apple the old Fart?

Apple rules after all guys!!!

You Meant Adobe. Right? I do not see Apple saying anything, much less showing something other than saying "FCS will be awesome". I for one Like proofs. Thank you adobe. and thank you Dave. keep the good work. You know the last few years have change the way we all do business. and I applaude Adobe for embracing the new ways. proof of that is their presence in forums like this one. Apple is looking like the cranky, grumpy old fart reluctant to do any other way but his. I do not get it. are they scared? are they incompetent (not sufficient personal to answer geeky questions)?... get with the days Apple... Social media is the way. Interacting and talking to the people that feed you will not kill you, but make you stronger. Look at RED. they have had more delays than anyone I know but we still love them and stand by them against any dumm ass that wants to put them down.

Jajaja!, Amen Albert.

Rumour has it that CS6 should be released later this year (around 7-8 months from now), so as much as I love the added features of CS5 (I'm on CS4 now but tried the trial out a while ago) I think I could wait until then.

Really, that seems like a much faster turn around time than usual isn't it? Not complaining at all, just curious.

I don't understand why the R3D converter is a separate, far less polished from the look of it, program from ACR. Why wouldn't it have been easier to add R3D support and a timeline scrubber to ACR that write a whole new module?

What the hell? I think you need to calm down and accept that some people run their business different to others, and that's their call...

Would be nice if Adobe would keep the current version up to date then stinging us the upgrade price every year and a half...

Make sure you have the latest update to CS5. We added RMD support to ppro 5.0.3 and AE 10.0.1

Cheers

Dave

We need to talk to the RED SDK and that wouldn't work well through ACR.

Cheers

In 5.0.3 ppro and AE 10.0.1 we add a whole slew of RED features including rocket, rmd and new color spaces... PPro had 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 that all added new hardware support, bug fixes and features...

Cheers

Dave

But at least they UPGRADE their software.....the same cannot be said about Apple's FCP....

Fantastic, at list some one is really stepping up to the RED game!!

Yes. To me it feels like the floodgates are about to open. The number of NAB announcements of Red Integration (Adobe, The Foundry, Numerous 3D Rigs) seem to be growing and the conference hasn't event started yet. Next week is going to be a great time. Very much looking forward to it!

On a side note, it's company's like Red and Adobe who continue to not hold back that keep the competition and the industry as a whole moving forward, it's great to see.

Apple's company policy is to NEVER pre-announce upcoming products. So, I would suggest, that all talk of an upcoming imminent death of Apple's Pro apps is a bit premature. Adobe embraces different approach, clearly illustrated by David's presence on these boards and public technology demonstrations. Knowing the direction of software development can be very helpful in your long term planning and purchasing decisions. Unfortunately, devil's in the details- release schedule, pricing, availability, licensing, hardware requirements etc. Nevertheless, I welcome Adobe's eagerness to listen. So, with that in mind and with the information gleaned from new technology demonstration, I would like to know, David, if soon we will see a proper planar tracking inside AE and even may be PPro, without resorting to Mocha?

You mean that update that brought almost nothing new to the table and was still behind it's time? ;)

NOOOP they did NOT.

NOOOP they did NOT.

I'm confused. Didn't Apple release FCS 3 about a year and a half ago?

there is not such a thing as FCS3 People erroneously call it such but Officially apple does not call it FCS3. Just go to Apple's site and see for your self.

that should have been FCS 2.5 and free because it was such a lame update. actually it was as lame as updates can get. I have said it many times and I will say again Apple should learn for a start up called "RED" they almost get you a new camera with the updates... way to go RED. and not to forget the trade-ins, Gee what more would you want?... I know the money to buy 4 Epics.
