Are there any known bugs with Build 454 and EDL / XML coming from Premiere Pro 5.03? I have been attempting to export an EDL or Final Cut XML from Premiere of some real basic edits. Using native .r3d files with the intent of just grading in RCX, saving the RMD file and reopening in Premiere Pro.

The EDL version is bringing in all of the correct clips, but not maintaining the in/out. Instead I get the entire raw .r3d file. I checked the EDL file and it is correct coming out of Premiere Pro. In RCX I also tried absolute vs edge timecode as well, and that did not correct the in/out problem.

The XML version did not appear to work. It only brought in two clips, which was far from correct.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray,

I've just importing an EDL from PP into RCX and it's working fine for me -- respecting in and out points. I'm importing with TimeCode set to Edge. Can you provide more details? I can also take a look at your EDL if you send it to redcinex at red dot com.

Cheers,
David

Ray, if I export a FCP XML from PP its coming into RCX perfectly. I cant bring in an edl though - nothing happens when I click ok - nothing loads in the bins or the timeline.

I have found when exporting an EDL from FCP it does weird things (like bringing in full length R3Ds) if I bring in more than a couple of hundred edits at a time. In a normal edit I found this to be around 30 minutes. When I tried 999, which is the limit for RCX it did crazy things.

Note - was 100% reliable under 30 minutes and works great.

Watch out for the timecode inclusive/exclusive setting. FCP generates exclusive T/C so if you use inclusive it will add a frame every edit!
