  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe CS6 Importer Server - big mess

Ok I have 6.0.3... what is the fix for this? I have a 40 min edit that will not link any of my R3D files... Please help! I need to finish this film asap.

As stated earlier in the thread. After updating you need to reinstall the labs plugin. If they are still offline after that, search your harddrive for *.ims files and delete those.

Cheers

Dave

Tried this and it doesn't work... I've even tried exporting an XML file of the timeline and re-importing. I still get the MEDIA PENDING error....

Nothing I do seems to work, can you help?

Steps i've taken so far (was chatting with Adobe support for about 4 hours today) is re-install premiere which then re-enabled import of red files for some reason the new labs files weren't working on my system.

I was still getting the Media Pending issue but I was able to export an XML file and re-import that into a new project which for some reason works and the footage shows up. Unfortunately, no time-remapping or plug-in based effects carry over with this method so I have to tweak my edit but at this point i'm just happy to have my timeline in some state of useable.

They are apparently going to call me tomorrow with more info so i'll post any more updates in case others run into the same problem.

we, too, have big issues with the media encoder and adobe dynamic link server... nothing that uses the DLS is working anymore (also involving non-r3d stuff) and you can't queue anything in AME anymore. help from adobe has been a joke to say the least.

I'm also having this problem... tried:
reinstall PPcs6
update to 6.0.3
reapply labs files
delete ims files

- in between each step I tried importing R3D media and got the Unsupported or Corrupt file error. Did this on 2 different machines.
- R3D screenshots import into Photoshop CS6 just fine.

I basically can't load ANY Red media into PPcs6... I initially thought that maybe it was a problem with Epic Monochrome files but it looks like it's more generic than that.

So I just started an online chat with Adobe... because I don't have enough frustration in my life I think. I basically copied and pasted the above info into the 'describe your problem' field... this was the first couple responses:

Ali: Hello! Welcome to Adobe Customer Service.
Ali: Hi Dave.
Dave: Hi
Ali: I understand you are not able to download Photoshop CS6, am I correct?

I had to laugh... clearly this is not going to go well. He just asked for the product serial number... so he can best help me.

30 minutes in... just got transferred to their "Technical Team", which may just be Adobe Code for "the guy down the aisle who's English is slightly better than mine".

edit: This is too funny (though I feel for those of you who have money on the line waiting for these guys to figure this issue out) :

Ali: Please be online while I transfer the chat to our technical team.

Please wait while I transfer the chat to the appropriate group.

You are now chatting with 'Santosh'
Santosh: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
Santosh: I have received your query. Please allow me a moment to verify your account and to review the details of your request.
Santosh: Hi Dave,
Santosh: I understand you are trying import the Red R3D camera videos into Photoshop CS 6, correct?

After going through this... the answer was "Call phone support".

...so when is CS7 coming out? CS6 (with latest patches) is a mess for me when editing R3D media. Media pending errors, when I enable Red Rocket the image is just frozen, if I disable it the CPU load jumps to 100% but the footage does play. Red Rocket works fine in Resolve and RCX.

And Adobe, while you are at it, please fix AME. I have Red 5k footage that has been edited in CS6. I applied titles from Premiere CS6 and then exported to AME (after rendering in Premiere) to be encoded as an MPEG 2 file. A few seconds after activating the queue, the encode fails. If I leave the titles off, the encode proceeds as expected.

UPDATE: Changed settings to Blu-Ray H264 and am now roughly an hour into encoding the sequence with titles. Seems to be an MPEG 2 problem for CS6.

NEW UPDATE: After hours and hours of encoding, I got a message saying "unable to compile movie, error unknown." This approximately 15 minute movie had a huge amount of cuts, transitions, cc on multiple video and audio tracks. I'm going to do a trimmed version and try to encode that next. Maybe it's my 6 core computer that is unable to handle the data...

Similarly, fixing Encore would also be a help. I built a timeline with two sequences. The timeline burns with just the first sequence on it, but with the added sequence, burns up to the place where the first sequence ends and then gives some error I don't remember at the present. This is only when burning Blu-Ray disks. When I burn the same Encore project as a DVD, it burns the two sequence timeline.

Try to render previews first. This can sometimes figure out where the error is.
I've had something similar problem to yours.

1) Depending on your video card ram? Only certain size pictures will be rendered.
2) putting a crossfade on an adjustment layer also messes it up sometimes.

well they never called me back... luckily I can at least use my footage via the XML export/import but that's one hell of a bug.. I really hope it's fixed in CS7 and I hope CS7 comes out this month.
