Doing a project using 5K (FF not HD) in a 1080p sequence....

I get about 5 minutes of work done...playback will then turn black (audio works) and never come back....only fixed by restart of PPRO...then I get another 5 minutes and another restart
occasionally media pending issues on restart (for like 20 minutes) requiring restart
media browser takes 3-5 minutes to display r3d clips...and 3-5 minutes to load a 128 gig cards worth....1/2 hour to load 5 cards into the project

when restarting loading the 1200 or so clips takes at least 5 minutes...

Updated drivers....pulled video cards ect ect all to no avail...

Thank God I didnt uninstall CS6....works fine full speed..
Media browser takes 30 seconds to display all the clips and 15 seconds to load them into the project

CS6 is on a win7 install
CC is on a win 8 install

Same system, same hardware...except win 8 a ssd drive
2x gtx 470...x58 i7 6 core, 24gb ram red rocket
5k FF epic footage

any experiences...suggestions?

I'm not ruling out win 8....but I wonder if this is an Adobe 5k issues...(not 5kHD remember)

It feels like the old days when I had the wrong labs plugins installed....exactly like that.....sorta works kinda thing

Probably related, but this is specifically not 5kHD...that was never working quite right...

I think the symptoms are different as well....everything plays back fine on mine....then no video at all....and it never comes back.

I have cc on win 8 but only 4k clips and less. No problems. Only problem with jerky playback on 3k clips for some reason but lets not talk about it in this thread.

So make the 5k HD issues thread the dumping ground for all complaints red and adobe related?

The reason I posted this was to see I there were issues with adobe CC an windows 8....5k HD and 5k FF are totally different and 5kFF has always worked...they are tackling a specific issue on the 5kHD thread which has plagued us for over a year....I would rather not add noise to an issue adobe is specifically helping to nail down

I have experienced the 5kHD issue many times, and the symptoms are very different.

If you haven't worked with 5k HD or 5k FF you may not realize there is a big difference in performance....

@mark
Gotta do some tests....
Almost all of my footage is 5k or 3k..I'll have to dig up some 4k clips
Nvidia drivers changed nothing...

4k clips same issue....

just added a few...playback then video went completely black...audio still there

I'm sure you've tried this, but, does it make any difference if you disable rocket playback? Just trying to eliminate all possibilities before pointing the finger at Win8 or Adobe. I feel for you, been there many times. I just refuse to pay a monthly fee to be a beta tester.

+1 for adobe outrage! i am done with them, wish i could get a buyer on my cs5 on ebay!

Ya tried that...I usually run 5k with no rocket, as a single rocket cannot keep up and only does full decode.
These symptom are very similar to when we would playback epic footage with no Lab plugins...just the early default adobe ones....

Really feels like it backtracked a year in progress...

I am trying not to point the finger...especially since CC is so far going quite well for most redusers....it may be a combination of CC win 8 and perhaps some driver issues specific to my system

just an update....

everything seems to be fine now...

Lightning fast in fact...

I made no significant changes, but I suspect my monitor enumeration had something to do with it...
I have 3 monitors... 2@ 1650 and 1 @ 1920

the 1920 was previously set to monitor 1....i pulled the video card out and re installed to change it to #2...and all issues suddenly went away

seems trivial, but i thought I would post an update seeing as hours of google found no one else with my exact syptoms

I had previously pulled cards...rolled back drivers ect ect all to no avail...but as soon as the monitor enumeration changed...everything is now peachy
