I recently purchased a new Imac and Thunderbolt RAID in hopes of having a somewhat decent machine to handle RED footage. I was originally planning on having my RED Rocket in an external enclosure, however my RED rocket (3-4 years old) decided to bite the dust =/. Anyways I figured I could at least handle 1/4 in Premiere fine and now Red Cine-X can use the CUDA's so thats a plus.

Anyways to the point. I've been having a lot of rendering issues with Adobe products, mainly only with .r3d's but once when it was being strained by a quicktime export. Such issues can range from just randomly slowing down until I restart (doesn't occur all the time) to what looks like color depth issues and even causing weird "glitched" frames randomly after rendering the timeline or exporting. These usually occur when I have two layers of footage overlap (even non .r3d's) and there is a blending mode on them, or a crossfade. I've never even experienced render issues like this on systems with worse specs. I don't seem to have any noticeable problems in anything else I do on this Imac, including Red-Cine X. Also rarely but it has happened when the rendering is extra "intense" the screen itself will glitch up. Don't know how to explain it other then what a stereotypical glitched screen would look like.

Does this sound like anything familiar to anyone? Is this just a normal issue with CUDA Imac's and Adobe? Could this be a problem with the actual graphics card if I only notice problems in Adobe? I've run a full diagnostic and the card seems to be fine. I reformatted it last night but I haven't had time to really do a stress test and figured I'd ask here if this rings any bells with anyone. Everything is as up to date as it can be also. Let me know if you need any more information

Marc,
I've had a situation like this - have you tried rendering with Cuda and OpenCL off? For one project I was working on recently it was the only way I could get a good render out of Premiere or AME.

When I tried to change back to Software rendering the system kept crashing. Also its a lot slower (when I'm not having issues obviously haha) and so its a bit disheartening if I'd have to just deal with a slow system. I'm afraid thats the case though
