Adjusted Delivery Schedule...

Can someone from the Red Team chime in here? Brent?
I got one of the mystery emails, and like many posters, I felt as if it had no useful info. I've had a reservation number since August of 2006... ;) Why is it news now?
Has anyone HIGHER than 300 been contacted about payment and delivery? Jay? You're a little higher up on the list than I... if 300 has gotten to feed17, don't you think the next 50 people at least would have been contacted? Or maybe it's 25 at a time, in which case Jay is in the same batch as I. hmmm...
I assume that the couple of people lower than 300 who have not received cameras are all overseas, with customs and overseas shipping as a factor.
It feels so close, but it's beginning to feel like there's something wrong... or maybe it's just the anticipation.
Cheers,
Harry

Harry, give them unitl the 15th, then let's see where it's at. There were some complaints and concerns in the last batch and they may be going over those before shipping out the next batch, but it's still a little early yet. History has shown that they will contact you VERY shortly before they ship.

I am guessing they are also still putting in a larger delivery team in place. Let's be cool for a week more.

Jay

just wait - there have some trouble to handle the last shippings because of some improvements on the PL mount.
so 101 to 300 is not totally shipped - i have no idea how far they are - but nate told me, that all cameras should be out by the end of the week (hopefully mines a little earlier !)

today i received this mail:

Sir,

I looked up your account and it is back in the warehouse waiting for shipping. We are currently going through all camera's and re-lubing the PL mount, checking back focus, and making sure everything is ready for you before it is shipped. Since we are doing these with all cameras in the warehouse we are a bit backed up. but I will email you the tracking numbers when I get them.

thanks,

so I will wait ...

Jay I agree. Of course I'm as busy as all get-out starting on the 15th, and free all this week... oh well!
Salemas, thanks for the update.
Cheers,
H.

Ok, that clears thing up... Sometimes it would be very easy, just to send a mail to all believers if things like this happen. Don't know, why we should always spent this much time to get the right answer.

I just emailed Red and they said that I should get an email confirmation soon and that my camera should get to me in FEBRUARY. What in the hell. This better not be some kind of joke because I'm not laughing.

#127 in February? This must be some kind of misunderstanding I hope.

Dear RED, Please give us some update on the situation.
It is quite frustrating not knowing where we stand with the delivery dates.
Thanks

It turns out that this was some kind of misunderstanding on their part. I don't know who they have working over there. They must have run out of coffee or something today. But still, they said that my camera #127 should be here by later this week or next week. It should have already been here. Again for those of us that live in the area and have paid the full balance, we should be able to go down there and get our cameras.

Yup gotta agree with you on that one, if everything's boxed up waiting for fedex to collect it, it cant be any more difficult to hand it to us rather than the fedex guy.

This is of course once the new set of delays are over with.

Ok, I am chiming in.... I will try to address as much as possible in one post.

1. We heard loud and clear when people who started receiving the first cameras from the new PL mount batch that a better lubricant was needed for the mount. At that point, we placed a hold on shipping new cameras until this was resolved. We did the research to find the best possible lubricant (don't let your mind go to the gutter on that one). We found a great product and had it sourced to us as soon as we could. Once we got it in, we began the process of lubricating the PL mount (with excellent results). So, with the new lubrication approved and in-house, we then had to begin the process of applying it to each camera. This means we had to:

Pull each camera out of inventory, disassemble the mount, lubricate, reassemble, set backfocus, run camera through entire QA process, and then repackaging.

When applying a substance that is in close proximity to the OLPF, we take extreme caution - as I am sure you'd expect. So, please understand that this process is a time intensive and labour intensive process.

As was mentioned in an earlier post, we expect to be back up to our normal shipping capacities by the end of the week as we are wrapping up that above process as we speak.

2. Speaking of "shipping", I see that concern has been expressed over the ability to come pick up your camera package at RED. RED is simply not set up for a will call situation at this point in time. Again, it is not as simple as either "handing it to the FedEx guy or handing it to a customer". We do not have the facilities nor the staff to handle a steady stream of customers picking up their camera packages. Not to that is not a goal at some point in time in the future, but it is the reality of right now.

3. Since you all touched on staff, yes, we are most certainly ramping up staff as we have ramped up our delivery expectations and goals. We are very particular at RED as to the quality of our team so we are only bringing on team members that share a passion for RED that we all have. We are working at light speed here at RED and have no doubt that we are developing staff as quickly as possible.

4. The current group of customers we are handling is #101-#300. No one after #300 has received the "your order is nearly ready to ship" email from us.

5. RED is always open to feedback and suggestions. We learned a lot about the order and fulfillment process from #1-#100. Believe me, the process has been vastly improved for #101-#300 based on our experience, our own internal feedback, and feedback from them. And I thank everyone who has given constructive feedback to us from #101-#300. #301+ will thank you, too. Understand that we are not the 800 lb gorilla right out of the gate, we are evolving as we go...

5. As far as customer communication, we are making strides in improving that process as well. While we do not want to not let you know what is going on, we also don't want to fill up your inbox with needless information. As soon as we have information, we post it here on REDUSER. If it is critical information each owner/reservation holder needs to know, we email them and/or post on RED.com. And, as always, if you ever have a question, we have the Contact Us forms on RED.com or you can call us at 949.206.7900.

I hope that helps everyone have a little clearer picture. There is no need to even have the word "panic" enter your thought process. RED, time and time again, shows we are willing to listen, willing to learn, and willing to dedicate ourselves to the cause.

So, #101-#300, we are working our asses off to get you your cameras as quickly as we can. But, when something like the lubrication needs to be addressed, we make sure we get it taken care of the right way.

#301+, you'll hear from us as we get closer to your anticipated delivery.

Thanks, BC

Thanks for clearing up a few things. However - you need to do some more knowledgesharing in your organization because I was told (still have the e-mail) that there was no problem in picking up my camera in person. I don't expect Jim (or anyone else for that matter) to shake my hand and show me around the facility or give me a rundown of my camera, but I would expect it to be possible to at least be able to pick up a product I've paid over $20k for in person. That would make me feel so much more than just another guy in line.

Tony, since you're #2336, I'm sure by that time Red will have some type of will call situation setup. They briefly mentioned that being a possibility a while ago.
