Drew, I asked the same thing. i much rather go down there and pick it up rather than wait 2 days to have it shipped from Lake Forrest to LA.. Hope you get yours soon man!

red serial no

red serial no

Today I'm received this:

You now have an official RED Camera Serial Number(s). This number allows you to see where you fall on the delivery schedule timeline.

Your RED Camera Serial Number(s): 260

No sh... ..., I know that information more than one year!

Is this some joke? I'm waiting for response from mr Sean Ruggeri more than ten days!

I liked the E-mail.. Whenever I've written Brent, he's written back within hours. They have my cash, and I am just hanging waiting for the E-mail to let me know it's time to get the camera.

I'm more worried about the accessories like the EVF than the camera. I really need that EVF..

Jay

I NEW IT, it's all SCAM. Red is a high end hoax telemarketing company set up in South Romania and Jim is an Alien, how could I be so blind.
HOW COULD I BE SO BLIND
...I just had to :)

is it really necessary the EVF . with all monitoring options. i can purchase good HD monitoring montir in the price of EVF ?? don't you think ?

It's a little hard to carry an HD monitor on your shoulder with the Camera.

An EVF is a great piece of kit to have if you are shooting outdoors in direct sunlight. Also, LCD's aren't ideal for a lot of wildlife/doc work, with small crews.

You got that right about wildlife... I was in Africa shooting Lions with a friend's RED.. I had an AC and he was pretty nevous I guess.. Well the Lion doubled back on us and came at me from behind. I could feel his hot breath on me, I was scared shitless, things stayed calm until the Lion moved his head in closer to the camera.. He looked at the LCD and noticed the AC had the pride out of focus. He ate him.

See?!?! If I had an EVF my AC WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY!!!! :angry03:

Jay

By the way.. My mom once told me, NEVER underestimate what people will believe. Normally I would not say anything, but I feel I should point out that none of this story is true. I don't want people to start saying "Jim Jannard was responsible for the untimely death of Jay Kelley's AC!!! Did you hear?!" :)

Don't get how the EVF will help the AC pull focus. Most AC's DON'T look through the finder while pulling focus. If the AC were looking at the LCD, and the shot was out of focus, he/she deserved to have been eaten by the lion.

Really? Here everybody uses the EVF to focus whilst the LCD is left for the director to monitor. Oh well.

Yes really. In the Cine world, The operator is using the viewing system while shooting with the AC looking at the lens and distance to subject while pulling focus.

Monitors are for everyone else to see what is going on through the camera. True, some AC's will pull focus off a monitor if the camera is on a crane etc... with a remote focus system.

Can someone from the Red Team chime in here? Brent?
I got one of the mystery emails, and like many posters, I felt as if it had no useful info. I've had a reservation number since August of 2006... ;) Why is it news now?
Has anyone HIGHER than 300 been contacted about payment and delivery? Jay? You're a little higher up on the list than I... if 300 has gotten to feed17, don't you think the next 50 people at least would have been contacted? Or maybe it's 25 at a time, in which case Jay is in the same batch as I. hmmm...
I assume that the couple of people lower than 300 who have not received cameras are all overseas, with customs and overseas shipping as a factor.
It feels so close, but it's beginning to feel like there's something wrong... or maybe it's just the anticipation.
Cheers,
Harry

My RED222 is NOT shipped, that's strange to me, perhaps they like this Nr. to much ;-)

Yeah, but if I had been on an EVF instead of an LCD the Lion would never have known we were out of focus!!!
