It seems that the mac support for RED is falling behind not only on the apple side but also in development at red!.
Just curious to see when this feature will be enabled on mac?
We have a RED ONE feature (2.5 hrs) coming up in Feb 2009. Ou studio is complete MAC based.

What about RedAlert / Redrushes?

Redcine is just a better all around option for color correction. Until they make the cross platform look files, that should also have in and out point info for post apps, were still wading in the muck.

But what is so hard about getting audio to work for output in redcine? What's the point of audio playback? For an editor, it's useless to edit without sound.

RedCine is no editing app, it' a very limited grading app. And Color, for example, doesn't play sound either.

Latest version of RedCine has AUDIO but no output for it... care to explain what the audio button is for then?

I edit with Avid but I still need to transcode the r3d files, as you know...

It's not a grading app. It's a RAW file converter with some basic file management capabilities. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't use it for whatever you want to use it for. But anything beyond file conversion and basic data management is not within its design criteria.

RedCine is a combined One-Light, and Telecine tool. Its purpose it for applying a one-pass color correction to your footage as you process it for editorial & finishing. It is synonymous with a one-light pass when developing/processing your film's negative stock, before sending it to telecine.

In my limited experience of using the RED tools in both Windows and Mac flavors, RedCine is the better one-light tool, while RedRushes is best left for the Telecine/conversion.

If only RedRushes could run on Windows (Wine for me) and read a RedCine project-- that would rock. Though, I'll just settle for a Linux SDK. ;-)

Of course, RedCine w/ Audio playback would be a nice tool for determining which takes to process, and which to leave on the master reel.
