hi,

Since I updated to 5.3.29 on my dragon i noticed today that the "adaptive quiet record" isn't quiet anymore, meaning the fans still run during record.
I have set target temperature to 65.

any one have the same "issue" ? (if its an issue:)

It seems to function fine (same) with my Scarlet. Did you inadvertently change the target temperature?

If it's too hot the camera would need to have the fans running anyway because it will need to keep the camera at the dialed in temp. That said I'd try a hardware reset and if that doesn't help then reinstall the FW if you think the camera should behave differently.

I seem to recall there was a past build where you could set both target temperature AND max fan speed during recording in the Adaptive Quiet Recording mode. At some point, IIRC, the max fan speed setting went away and you could only set target temp (in this mode). Depending on what your prior build was, perhaps this is what you are experiencing.

The camera will do what it has to in order to maintain the target sensor temp.

If if you are finding this is a problem you can warm the camera up to 71 do the blackshading calibration and run it hotter in adaptive mode and the fans will work a little less and make less noise by having a higher sensor temp set.

If if the takes are long or rapid, you might find yourself in that loop where the camera just needs to ramp up the fans to maintain the temperature. The one thing it will not do is stay quite in that mode if it needs to run the fans to cool the sensor. The way around this is to run things manually, but there is a big warning that you are overriding having the camera cool when it intelligently needs to.

Manually, you run the risk of overheating the sensor.

If you need to keep the noise down or the fans down, then I suggest shading at higher temps.

What is your room temp? Dragon is quieter than MX as it loves more heat.
Is your camera quiet enough with adaptive mode?

Terry, maybe that was it. Are you guys dragons completely
quiet during record in " adaptive quiet record"?

As an aside, mine is not a Dragon, but the fans in this mode seem to ignore whether you are recording or not and just maintain the target temp. If the temp is at/near the max, you may hear the fans slowly start to wind up to keep things cool. I think one of the features of this mode is that the fans don't all of a sudden kick in and make a noticeable change to ambient noise.

Isn't there another "quiet" mode that will allow you to set a maximum fan speed (in percent) while recording?

The target temp? 47/63 and then levels off

47 is your sensor temp / 63 is your CPU core temp

When setting the temp for your fan setting you set the max CPU core temp (up to 70C°). But when doing blackshade you use the sensor temp (up to 46C°).

I allways use the adaptive mode (only) not the Adaptive quiet. So I get a constant noise even during rehearsal. But I use a third party fan cooler that takes the load off the camera fan (read fan noise).
