Hi,

I have a V-mount plate that was used to Power a TVlogic monitor, (attached pictures).

Just wanted to know if there is any cable that can connect this standard AC plug to the RED power connection? So I can use the plate to mount the battery away from the camera body? or do I have to completely change the cable on the plate as the voltage could be wrong?

Waiting to hear your wisdom :)

Just buy a lemo cable and tie it to the end of the dc barrel connector. Wrap it up with some more of that electrical tape and ya should be good to go!

Edit* Don’t do that.

Get a Dtap to Lemo and a lot of vlocks have dtaps on them then you can have the battery away from the body. Confess i did get a cable made up but not actually tried it yet...

cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,

I was pretty much sure, that some d-taps won't support the power requirement of the camera, but I might be wrong?? because the d-tap option could work for me, using something like this cable: https://www.woodencamera.com/d-tap-to-epic-scarlet-dragon-weapon-braided-flex-p/208800.htm

Flip side is, that d-tap is not very secure connection...

Hi Tommso,

Hope you alright :)

Thanks for the input, this is what I thought..but where do I get a cable? do you know any places in EU that will do it?

I am thanks!

Same for you!

don't go dtap...

buy a cable with a lemo connector for dsmc1/2 power already fitted and then solder (+hot glue if needed) the other end to the plate.

For maximum quality for example you can use RED's own RED to XLR power cable and just desolder/cut the XLR connector, very very nice cable that one.

On a cheaper route you can use DJI cable for powering REDs from the RONIN...

You solder the cable yourself? I'm starting to think maybe it's better to look after a used plate that is Lemo for RED from the factory, those are around $200, RED XLR cable itself with no solder work is $120 new...

Is it for your Scarlet W?

Don't you have another plate?

Yes, for the SW. I've the RED i/o V-lock expender. I just wanted to add another option to offset weight when I'm on the shoulder and I had this plate just collecting dust so I thought why not utilising it. Thought maybe there is some company that could make a cable for this...

Ah ok!

keep that plate for LED lights or accessories and just buy the DSMC belt v-lock plate, very high quality and ready to go then!

It also transmit all the battery infos and the plate is made by Blueshape as always so it's very sturdy and reliable!
