What is the best third parties lens adapters to the Red Camera?

1. Hasselblad Carl Zeiss lens

2. Leica R Lens

3. Contax/Yashica Lens

4. Nikkor Lens

Thanks,

Talking about opening a can of worms...

Right now the only one available is the Nikon adaptor.

P+S Technik have a Universal Mount, that accepts pretty much any type of lens adaptor, but currently voids the warranty.

Birger Engeneering is working on a electronic Canon Mount (and later: Nikon mount), but has been plagued by delays.

There is some talk of other 3rd parties coming with other solutions. Maybe IBC will come with some surprises?

Thank you for your reply Martin! I am looking forward to buy the red camera but I really want to be able to use my photography optics on it. I made adapters for my own lens to adapt different lens system into the one I shoot. Thus, if you can educate me on how these adapter works I will be able to make them and potentially contribute to the community.

I think half the buyers want PL to begin with.

I think all the buyers would rather have an option. Yes, of course, PL obviously being one of them. Currently, RED only provides two options in OEM form, PL and Nikon. The IMS provides many attractive options, from PL to Panavision to BNCR to Contax to Canon to even two flavors of Nikon F. You get the drift. And that's not even counting the optical viewfinder option.

It's really a no-brainer, no matter what your application. I mean, if it were not for it voiding the warranty.

Anyone yet to find an actual Haselblad to PL adaptor (mount Hassy lenses on a PL mount camera)? I've talked to three companies that made them in the past, but can't find anyone who makes one currently. Might be something to pop up on eBay, but I just wonder if anyone has actually sourced a unit. I ask because we've had a few requests -- enough to make it worth the effort to look.

Hey Doug,

Can you pull this one off?

P+S Technik have a Universal Mount, that accepts pretty much any type of lens adaptor, but currently voids the warranty.

The press release from the end of June suggests it doesn't:

http://www.pstechnik.de/en/optics-ims-red.php

-------------

Due the fact that only the original RED mount needs to be replaced by
the P+S Technik IMS, no warranty limitations will be damaged.

-------------

It would be great if this were true. I'd rather leave the universal adapter on and go back and forth between PL and FD. I have a whole set of lenses ready to go but am afraid to put on the Muse mount for warranty issues.

I saw that too, but didn't know how old the information was. This press release is from about three weeks ago, I couldn't remember if the void thing was older than that and maybe they already resolved it?

I've sent an email to P&S asking so hopefully they will update the info. Be great if this worked.

One of the domestic US resellers for P+S Technik products (ZGC) requires that a waiver be signed when purchasing the IMS product, because of the warranty issue. However, they did tell me that one of their technicians has been in contact with RED.

Whatever that means...
