  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adam Wilt on Red's postproduction tools

Thanks Zengze. Its a good article. Straightforward and more focussed on the Red than the last article I read by Adam Wilt. He expresses the frustration that most people seem to express in relation to Workflow and indicated that at the same time, it's well worth the ride.

Finding my way around

Finding my way around

Having ordered the Red just recently I regognize Adams remark that you have to find your way around all those discussions on Red User, of which many posts don't give much information. My Red is supposed to arrive in July so fortunately I still have a lot of time to find out about it all. And the posts with experiences, shots, stills etc are very inspiring!
Still I hope there will come an article, book, or video that will explain the basics better.

Yes, Adam Wilt is "wicked good" at explaining things. I remember in the early days of the whole Panasonic 24p thing, I would get REALLY tired of explaining how 24p works, what 24pA is, and "pulldown" to potential clients who were curious about my SDX-900. I would often end the discussion with "imagine that we're shooting film, processing, and telecining all in one box" Then 5 minutes later I would still get a panicked call of "the display on the monitor says 60i!!!"
I finally smartened up and grabbed a copy of Adam's 24p article from his web site. I had it as a pdf of the Powerbook as well as a nice printed copy of the "colored squares" illustration of the 24p pulldown process. then clients would imply go "ahhhhhh... OK" Pictures are worth a thousand words.
I've just filed away pdfs of all three post articles about Red that he's written. I'm sure he'll have more to come. It's great now that camera guys have to be post experts! not... ;)
Cheers,
Harry
