Justin, can you explain the main difference between Electra with battery plate and Electra with quickrelease?

Justin, can you explain the main difference between Electra with battery plate and Electra with quickrelease?

Hey Demetri,

The main difference in the 2 package options is that the package that contains the "battery module" rather than just the "v-mount/ab plate" has more flexibility for quick release and mounting options. As a separate module with its own quick release, the battery module adds a lot of functionality to the EPIC. The battery module can quickly be switched from the Proteus to the Electra to other mounting configurations (like the swivel mount, or on 15mm rods), allowing you to decide if you need to use the Electra or Proteus on the particular shoot (or shot) or not. The type of mounting plate (AB / V-Mount) can also be changed rather quickly for camera operators who made need to utilize 2 different types of batteries in a single shoot. The quick release system may also be favorable for customers who would like to add on future ActionProducts power modules onto their camera. For those who buy the package without the quick release battery plate, you would typically utilize just a single configuration (V-mount/AB + Electra to the Proteus to the EPIC or Scarlet).

Justin,

I already have an Anton Bauer QRC-Epic plate setup on rods via the AB Matrix plate. Is there a way to integrate my existing setup with the Electra+Proteus, or would I need to also purchase your battery module?

Justin, so if I get the quick release version I can for instance "bypass" the Electra module and mount the battery plate directly on Protheus thus creating a similar solution to VF/Wooden Camera battery plates, right?

And when I need all the functionality of Electra I can just "squeeze" it between Protheus and the battery module?

Hey Jacob,
Thanks for the interest. I'll have to get back to you about this, I just want to confirm it.

Dear Demetri,

Yup! You can "bypass" the Electra if you don't need it, which would make your configuration look similar to the solutions you mentioned, but of course would have the additional power outs for more accessories and Redmote when utilizing the Proteus. We also have some other mounting options for the battery plate (for example on 15mm rods or on our shouldermount) for even more configurations.

Yes, you would also need to purchase the battery module (or at least the v-mount/ab plate, depending on the package you choose). The QRC plate is NOT directly compatible, and the costs associated with converting a plate about negate the price of the plate. Sorry!

I just had my Elektra Power package, it's a beautiful product. Thanks Action Products ! I can't wait for the other goodies I ordered from your store !

Hey Berenger,

Glad you are enjoying the modules. Would love to see some pics of your rig when it's all setup!

Do you make your swivel mount in 15mm Studio? Us Los Angeles folks need 15mm Studio.

Hey Mike,

Unfortunately at this time we do not carry a Swivelmount for 15mm studio, but we are working on it for the near future!

Justin, just to make sure I understand your system correctly

To achieve this I need to get Protheus and Epic Battery Module, with these two items I can assemble an equivalent to WC/VF plates and add Electra between them later on when I need it, right?

BTW, I think it would be great if you make a short demo video showing all the system modules and different ways they can connect to each other, just like Ryan did with his system here. It can get a little bit confusing when you just look at the pictures.

That is correct Demetri, the EPIC Power Package with Proteus, Electra, and Batty Module will let you run both configurations you mentioned. We are also in the process of getting a demo rig so we can demonstrate our products, sorry for any confusion!

The AP gear (all items) are very well build. I also like the support of AP. And the feedback they are taking.
its really cool for cinestyle shoots, but at the same time for the one man band!
love the hotswap ability which made it into the electra! thanks mucho for listening.

Thanks for clarifying Justin.

Also, do you have plans to make a longer cable for the Proteus so it can be mounted on the back of the Pro I/O module? Or do you have a solution for integrating the Batt plate+Electra+Proteus with the upcoming I/O? I'm worried about everything playing well together.

Thanks!

Jacob

I was about ready to buy yesterday until Red told me that AP is not an approved vendor and use may affect Red warranty. I'm also concerned about conflict with red side handle and AP top plate.

AP clearly meets a need due to Red's poor planning. But when the Red I/O comes out, it will make a lot of accessories obsolete. I guess you have to determine if AP's bird in the hand is better than Red's pending whatever due whenever.

An official statement from Jarred or Actionproducts about losing warranty is very much needed. Anyone ?

Wow, that is unexpected.

Tim, have you asked them about the WC/VF options? Are these approved?
