Hi,

I love the look I'm achieving with my RED Scarlet-X, but I'm trying to improve my skills further.
I know there are a lot of great cinematographers here in the forums and was wondering if anyone
could achieve the 'Gangster Squad Look' with the RED. I know it's not a good film and all, but I love
the look of it. It looks very digital and distinguishable from film.

Here's the trailer:

Thanks!

Somewhere in the tutorials in the web this cinema was mentioned. I dont remember correctly where is. The main keys of the look are huge sized lights and technics of color grading. The base of cc was next: skin tones moved to warm and yellow tones, shades and half-shaded areas to opposite cyan tones and after that whites was corrected to whites and blacks to blacks additionally.

Gangster Squad was covered in the December 2012 issue of American Cinematographer. I'd say 60% of the look of the film was due to ace cinematographer Dion Beebe, 20% due to the lenses, 15% due to the colorist, and 5% to the camera (Arri Alexa in this case). Strictly IMHO.

I would add another 37% to art direction:-)
