  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Accessories for RED BOTTOM PLATE!!

allstar I didn't mean to say you should sell it for $17...
I am in if it's $400....

I would probably bit for 400, although I would like to see a few more mounting holes in the bottom

SHOULDER DOVETAIL mates with RED BOTTOM PLATE

Sorry people but it will fail, RED base is too weak there for a positive lock.

Especially in cold environments, less than 10 degrees F.

<->

Outward forces will break your base plate, worst yet it will give away.

I would not trust 100K worth of lenses and camera there.

Have you ever experimented with RED bottom plate under 10 degrees F before you say? I disagree on your viewpoint. How to break a metal plate so easy?
If u use a big+expensive+heavy zoom lens,I suggest to choose other system.Maybe my dovetail is too short to the balance.I believe you can pay more than $1000 for your 100K lenses+camera.

Casted metal has bubbles, and the cold, you will have real problems.

The second problem is designs, the wall is too thin to support your dove tail.

You should test first before you sell your dove tail.

Yes, I have people who's tested thing in the cold.

I hate the RED cheese plate because the small holes don't line up with the universal mount. It's also can not be top mounted.

For now, I have no choice but to use the RED cheese plate on the bottom.

Good Idea, but find a better locking point.

Since you open this can of worms, for opinions.

Let's me be straight.

I think the design suck, it's not even O'connor compatible.

You still need to mount it to a quick release.

Now you have two weak points.

It's useless even if it works. I would still use my RED cheese plate.

Let me make it very clear.

Your designs suck.

You suck because you don't listen.

You are on the wrong path.

Learn from these guys at action cam, and buy one from them.

I think they got this one cover.

I don't want to buy anything from you, not even for a DV camera.

Dame, LOL, This must be a language issue?

Tek

Sorry,I have listen also try to meet your need, but finally I did not know
you want.
Anything what you say was depend on your feeling .Plz show any data or the fact to account for weak parts.
RED`s top mount was fix by two 1/4 screws, the gauge is only 2mm.You use them to carry your 20KG camera.
No personality plz
U r a funny guy,So I`ll stop waste my time on you.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but all of the first run RED items were CNCed not casted. all production runs since were casted. So each of you may be correct depending on when your plates were made.

I am sure that your qualifications as a dit and a post guy totally make you qualified to judge some ones mechanical designs, as most dits are master machinists, and have worked for years as ACs and operators, oh wait.........

Quit being a prick. If you disagree with him, fine, do it in a gentlemanly fashion.

Play nice.

Nick "I'm a pretty damn good machinist by the way" Gardner

Arrinick,

People has to learn to listen to others that have been there and done that.

The base plate has been tested and proven to be weak at that point.

He is not the first one to get that idea for a dove tail.

Even the base screws, if tightened too tight it could cause problems.

Arrinick, if you are a machinist. you should know better too.

I gave him free info so that he could do more RND, but instead he assuming that metal is automatically strong.

By the way I do work with metals.

Element Technica is easily the best choice for accessory hardware. IMO If you want your accessories to work flawlessly for many years ET is really the only choice. ET gear is as good as ARRI equipment at a fraction of what ARRI charges. My camera is fully fitted with Element Technica gear and it works perfectly.

If you want your accessories to last for years under tough production use and still impress even the most critical camera assistants and DP's then ET is what you want.

Buy the right gear once and have it for life! I have found following that rule makes things a lot less painful.

Tekcin, perhaps if you offered your excellent feedback in a more measured tone, you might be better received on the list. Saying "your designs suck" is not constructive feedback.

Other boards may be all about flaming but we try to keep our comments professional and supportive here.

Allstar, I'm interested in your offering. I could use a longer dovetail although I will likely invest in the ARRI standard.

Best,

Michael

Mr. Morlan,

Did you read my first post?

Started with "Sorry".

Then He flamed me with this.

I suggest to choose other system

How is that for flaming with people who try to help?

Mr. Morlan,

Thanks for your careful reading of this thread.
