Hi,

I was just wondering if there is any possibility to access the codec settings from within RedAlert / RedLine / Clipfinder. Reason is that I was using MJPEG-B proxies, but the quality is very bad and you can't change any setting - it just outputs files with whatever setting is chosen as default by RED developers.

I don't fully understand what you are looking for. All the softwares mentioned offer a choice of codecs. If you like, you can contact me privately over at the German forum und I walk you through it.

I understand what Robert means. I have the same problem. I used to rend out Jpeg-codec quicktime movies in Redrushes, but they look afwul. But I am sure Qt can produce far better movies in this codec, but the setting REDrushes (and redline underneath it) uses, just has a bitrate that is way too low. I haven't been able to change this bitrate anywhere, since RED hid it away (it's isn't accessible or documented in their documentation).
So I've switched to using uncompressed movies and then batch-processing them in Compressor or something like that.

Hope this helps until RED figures this one out...

I think RED considered JPEG obsolete, since ProRes is better anyway. OTOH, there's nothing wrong with using Compressor on QT proxies.
