LOVING the Weapon!! But I noticed today that when pulling AC power from it, the camera shuts down even if there is a battery on the element Technica plate. Any chance of this being resolved in the future?

Thanks!!

Ouch. Not good!

Yeah I have had this plate on my desk waiting for the weapon. Not what I want to hear. Also no percentage readout?

No problem on our Weapons. Pull the AC powere and the camera stays on with ET battery plate.

Using IDX Duo 150's

Yea what batteries are you seeing this with?

That's weird. I've not had this problem at all and I've had my Weapon for a couple months now. I did have some problems with my older no name batteries, which is why I switched to the new AB 150w CineCubes (percentage readout works perfectly). I did a job where I was handheld a lot on a biggish zoom, so I actually had two batteries on to help balance (the ET plate and a standard AB plate, rod mounted and going into the DC input on the expander) and had zero issues when swapping bats. Since then I've also done power swaps from a block to the onboard (through the ET plate) and again, no issues. I would also suggest reaching out to ET for support, but first check your batteries.

Can you run your camera with those batts? Sounds like the source of your problem.

BTW, we do see battery voltage, but can't enable percentage. Wondering if this is a battery specific thing.

No problems hot swapping AC power with my switronix hypercore 150s and the ET gold mount for weapon. Not getting percentage readout though. Only voltage.

I just did a test with my CF-W Weapon, using ET gold mount and HC Dionic batteries.
-Does not shut down when AC is pulled.
-I don't see voltage. I can switch between battery percentage and remaining time in Settings > Display > Modes > Camera. ?
-The power light on the sidekick does not light when battery is present, even with camera off. On my Epic it would light with the AB battery locked on the back, or a Revolt in the side handle.

I am having the same above issue actually...its hard to know when the camera is turning on.

I just sent a message to Element Technica. Hopefully a rep can chime in. You would think they have a vested interest in being the go-to camera plate for all the cameras being delivered....

My tech did some tests with our IDX Duos today and there are some interesting things going on with the camera not recognizing batteries when the AC is pulled in certain circumstances. Turns out that if you hold down on the charge status button on the side of the battery for 5 seconds, the problem goes away for that battery on either of our cameras. That situation repeated itself on each of our 8 batts. Once that was done, the AC shutdown problem went away. Apparently, when you depress the charge status button for 5 seconds, it re-sets a configuration on the battery so it then works with the DSMC2 body. He talked to IDX support and the tech said that Red's battery configs are not industry standard and that was probably the source of the issue.

IDX is going to investigate further and get back to us and I'll post a more detailed, accurate post once we have that info.

It seems a lot of people with DSMC2 bodies are reporting different kinds of battery issues. I don't recall this happening on DSMC (EPIC/Dragon) bodies.

Stay tuned....

Update: from RED.

When the camera is not powered - The Led power indicator on the side of the weapon does not illuminate when a battery is on the back of the camera because the pull from that led slowly drains the battery. Only when AC power is connected will we see the led illumiate when the camera is powered off.

Do the power outputs on the ET battery plate stay active if no battery is on the camera but the Ac power is running into the base expander? Meaning does ac power pass through to the power outs on the plate with no battery attached?

Also if you have a cabled battery plate, like the Wooden quick back you'll get the green LED when the battery plate is plugged into the power port on the base expander
