I'm hoping to get some input on this. The cable to my Red AC power adapter got pinched on a camera crane, slicing through some of the connections on the cable (the cable on the DC side).

There are 5 small wires surrounded by metal sheathing. Can I just splice the 5 wires back together again and everything will be fine? Or are there issues with the sheathing that need to be addressed? I want it good as new (other than the fact I can live with a lump in the cord.)

Just re-posting here. Anyone out there with good cable/DC power expertise?

I think you would be fine. There isn't really any sensitive signals going through the power supply cable. Just splice them back together and make sure you use some good heat shrink tubing.
