Anybody ever notice how KEH will sometimes have really bad days when none of the good stuff is available and then, about two to three days later, they end up with the same amount of good stock that they had before? It almost seems overnight a bunch of people go in and buy all of the fast and EX and EX+ lenses they have and then sell them right back to them a few days later. Why is that? It's just a website, shouldn't they list ALL of their inventory for their benefit and the consumer as well?
I could understand certain lenses flying off the shelves and some good lenses being bought up quickly over a period of time but I refuse to believe that they would get a constant surge of buyers who come in all at once like that and clean them out.
What got me started on this was that I was looking at getting an EX or EX+ Nikon 24mm f/2.0 lens for an upcoming project. They've had about four or five of them in stock for a good amount of time and have always had at least two on hand. But I look today and they seem to be out of those and practically everything else. I've noticed that the Nikon 20mm 2.8 AIS has been out of stock as far as EX and EX+ selection goes for a good while but it's strange how every once in a while they'll constantly have two or three come in out of the blue and then they'll disappear again for another set amount of time and, again, two or three pop in from the unknown. Unfortunately, the same seems to be happening with the 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4. The 50mm 1.2 AIS had the same dance and I bought one of the few EX+ versions they had but somehow a week or two later they end up with a whole batch of them. That was my first indication that they're cycling things in and out, almost as if to artificially heighten demand. I don't know, it just doesn't make sense to me.
