  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

a worthy Doritos contest entry?

Absolutely great. Hysterical.

Very good and funny, but I wonder whether Doritos will go for the self-mutilation theme.... :emote_popcorn:

I liked it.

It's not really self-mutilation, but snapping a prosthetic leg like that can't be cheap.

funny.. but colors seemed muted...did you color correct?

The grade didn't go the way I was hoping as I was 2000 miles away at the time but muted colors and lifted blacks were the general look. It's a much better lo con look in HD but there is too much green in the mids for me. The lo con doesn't translate to internet video very well but hopefully people will get to see it in HD 16:9.

These were more the suede/Ivy League/warm lifted look we were going for.

looks good warren.. I see a little noise.. what was your shooting stop?
tungsten obviously?

Thanks. These are very compressed jpegs. Not much noise at all in the final. Not that noise is a bad thing. Sometimes I shoot at higher ASA's for it. Always depends on the content and the director.

4200k white balance to maintain warmth and T2 shooting stop to add as much shallow DOF for 4:3 extraction.

The props guy made a genius leg. You just reloaded it with a wooden dowel and go again.

I figured it was up to props... Just commenting about what the visuals imply. :)

While viewing this, I actually believed for a second that this was indeed a legit Dorito's commerical. I think that you have a shot to win. Better color correcting would have brought you to the next level though.

Well geez...of course I realized that the "actor" didn't *really* mutilate himself, what I meant is that the character he was playing destroys one of his own limbs...

I haven't laughed like I did in a long time. What's worse, is I had to keep quiet as the rest of the family is sleeping.

I know I just watched this again. I knew exactly what was coming the first time I saw it but I think the timing of the edit is so perfect you can't help laughing. Great edit.

I do wonder about the conservative nature of the NFL and the family image they are trying to present. I'm guessing the spot works in the same way Jack In the Box commercials work. It's something to talk about it. But is ripping a leg off going too far for a bunch of suits? Unsure.
