Old client of mine had a couple that was getting married and the groom is a geek for the Red, so he hired me for an 8 hour shoot in San Diego. 30lb Red was on the shoulder all day.. No assistant

Cut this very quickly, this isn't the final but the client wanted to see something asap. I will probably use Crimson & Redcine to make the colors truly pop.

Method: 2k Proxy-->Pro-Res HQ via Compressor-->Cut in FCP-->Quick CC in FCP--->Output Pro-Res--->Web compression

The original is immaculate

wow seriously great work.... you shot this all to Hard drive? one or two? did you have NDs on during the day? what was your ASA for the night stuff?

did you notice the half frame/shutter thing with the fireworks? kinda interesting effect...

I will be shooting a wedding in May...

Thanks!

I started the day filling up my 8 CF cards, then I moved onto the HD. Shot 250GB total.. Didn't dump at all..

I had NDs on during the day, I usually just keep my 1.2 in there for run&gun stuff and have a .3 or .6 handy.

ASA for night stuff was kept at 640 all around. Red zoom. I played with the levels in FCP a bit.

I did notice the half frame shutter but I kinda dig it as well..

Good luck with the May wedding. Take lots of breaks..

Great work, Richard. They must have spent a fortune on that wedding! 8-) Hopefully they didn't force you into wearing a tux all day? ;-)

I almost never do weddings (okay the occasional family member) but a friend of a family member begged me and I'm shooting one in July. I had contemplated shooting RED, had a good laugh about it, then said I'll shoot it with my HV20. Now, I'm seriously reconsidering. That was some nice looking footage, and if you go lightweight enough and use fast enough lenses under decent light, looks like the results can be quite good. Rolling shutter could be a problem, but the majority of the footage being great outweighs a small amount that will have those flash frames.

Nice work!

Your hired!! Son I got a weddin comin up for my daughter and I got $50,000 - think you can do her for that!!

Just kidding - but damn that looked more like a commercial spot than a wedding video. Fantastic work - and it shows your talents.

I started out working for a high end wedding photographer - it is a tough gig when you get high end wedding clients as they are very demanding. Looks like you pulled it off with some style and class.

Absolutely beautiful!

Since I'm in the middle of finishing a wedding DVD myself, I can only hope to once get the chance and shoot something as spectacular as that.

Very nice work, I mostly dig the reflections on the hung decorations, gives it a kind of wonderland feeling.

I like the slow mo of the bride turning and the b+w treatments.

and the bride! tlorenzo is right, that wedding probably costs more than some corporate functions!!

Wow! Impressive Richard. You sure know how to inspire...not to get married...again but to work.

Thanks

That footage looks very, very, very clean. This camera, when in the right hands, erases any doubts or concerns that may pop up every now and then.

That's one hell of a wedding video there. Nice work.

Beautiful shots, beautiful wedding.

(And yes, it looks like neither the bride nor groom are being particularly affected by the (alleged?) recession. I'm surprised they didn't hand out RED ONEs to the reception. Fireworks? Really? On the cutting room floor: The bride being flown in by a pack of doves, and the groom materializing out of thin air).

Wow ... This is the best wedding video EVER.

this makes me want to shoot one ... always refused to do it (my friends hate me for this)!

very very smooth shoulder shooting also!

looking forward to see the final one

Richard, that was awesome. I really love how you captured the contemplative moments. You did a great job of using the camera as background spectator... the beautiful couple will be floored with your work.

Andrew

PS..the flashes are still the bane of the red... Build 16?

thanks redheads.
FYI, there were 500 ppl in attendance. It was huge and probably cost a quarter mil easy... I'd be happy with a deposit on a house over a wedding that insane. Smoke if u got em
