I just wanted to take a minute to thank Steve Gibby for his generosity with M008 during the American tour.

As Ketch Rossi and Joseph Hutson travel across the US, the contribution to the Red community has already been invaluable.

From underwater housing ideas, shooting configurations, real world testing and technical tests yet to come, I personally believe the team is definitely bringing everyone up the learning curve at an unbelievable pace.

We are beyond excited about Epic.

Thank you Steve for your contribution.

I too am lucky for Steves contribution thank you Steve and Ketch the hands on the EPIC, it has been extremely helpful and productive, inspiring and gratifying.

Thanks Guys.

I'd like to thank Steve for his participation in this community the last 4 years!

He's had a great positive influence on this forum and is a class act.

Wow...thank you for those extremely kind words :-)

It has always been my feeling that those of us who adopted Red early have a responsibility to help out our friends and associates with insight about Red. Many years ago I was in the right place at the right time - and had the good fortune to make the right choice - and I'm so glad I did!

An unbelievably long list of people have helped me throughout my career - and I gladly do honor to them by returning their good karma to others.

Ketch is a great guy - one of the most giving people I've ever met. The Epic American Tour was his concept, and it was an easy decision for me to put my support behind it. Then with Joseph also contributing, that is truly the icing on the cake. This is essentially just their tour - I'm a supporter on the sidelines.

Red is much more than a company - its now a worldwide community. I'm totally happy to be a member of this community and to contribute whenever I can and whatever I can. In reality, without Jim's vision and Red Team's hard work, there would be no Red, no Red User, and none of this thriving Red community would even exist. We're all really fortunate here.

Its a really great time to be in this industry...

All I can say is thanks to Steve... again... ;) and thanks for all the support that we are
getting in this Epic American Tour, people across the US are coming together to meet our
needs and we are encountering gracious hosts, of course I could not have embarked on this trip
without Steve's consent, but also I could not have done this with out the crucial support of my Accomplice...
Joseph Hutson, which is talking care of al the critical scheduling, and keeping me inline with my medications... ;)

So once again this is just an other excuse to say than you to all of those getting involved in this Epic American Tour!!

Thats just awsome guys.
Great job Joseph.

Gotta ditto all the sentiments here : Gibby was instrumental in giving me a 3 month head start on underwater housings for the Red1 and he and Ketch are doing the same for the epic.

Gibby: I took a 20 minute break a couple hours ago to give our mutual friend Champe Barton a hands on look at Epic - he says hi and thanks.

I always hesitate to say anyone has done "the most" - there are a lot of generous people in the Red community - but I can't imagine anyone having done more or been more generous than Gibby, thanks again for all the support - both me personally and the Reduser community.

.... Now back to work - I figure I'll have this housing done about 3:00 AM - ketch and Joseph have to be at the airport at 10:30am. :-)

Thanks again to everyone on this thread for the kind words - and thank you Michael for your very kind post. I'm way happy, and I know Ketch is, to have you design and make this new housing for Epic M8 :)

Great to hear that you had Champe over to check out Epic. Me and him have both worked together as DP for two multiple Red camera music TV productions (Journey and Heart), and will undoubtedly be working together on many music productions coming up this year and beyond. He's a great guy and technician. As a Red One owner himself who is looking forward to getting an Epic I'm sure he was stoked to check out an Epic. Wish I could have been there...

Hopefully you got the housing done for Ketch. I'm sure he'll be excited to shoot with it and Epic M8 in New York with Clay Haskell.

Thanks for turning that housing around so quickly Mike :)

Mike,

What kind of lenses does your Epic housing work with?

Also Daybreak, the movie you did the underwater stuff on, has it's theatrical premiere in New York in May.

Cheers,
Ian

Gibby has always been a great guide as to what is possible, instead of what is impossible with the RED.

The appreachiation flys all around!

Cheers!

Thanks Gunleik! Indeed, with Epic there are very few actual limitations - and most of the supposed limitations either reside in our imaginations or skill sets :thumbup1:

For productions Epic can do just about whatever we want it to - assuming that we have open minds and good skills
