  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A taste...

First of all I'll say that I spent too much time trying to solve this puzzle - no laughing please.

Well done - i actually did something like that too. My results were rather similar to your findings, though i just eyeballed the shape and modeled much more roughly than you did. The geometry is odd.

It's fun to be a 3D detective though ;-)

I actually also thought of creating my own 3D version of "Scarlet", reproducing the render as much as possible and then surrounding it with imaginary parts.

You know, as a prank: "see what i found from the red server!" - But it would have been bit too cruel, and also way too much work to do properly ;-)

non parallel lines... wtf

Lines that are at an angle.

In this case, either the grooves on the top are at an angle compared to the "main body", or the backside is. They're not running in the same direction.

It's hard to judge from that image - probably deliberately made to be hard.

I'd still like to know why there is a badge with the name 'Scarlet' on an optional (maybe?) accessory. It HAS to be part of the actual camera body, does it not? Is the badge there just to mess with us?

Not if the Scarlet is a different size than both One and Epic. If this is an accessory that is specific to the Scarlet camera wouldn't it make sense to have the logo on it?

first of all i'll say that i spent too much time trying to solve this puzzle - no laughing please............in summary, we are obsessed with the new camera and wants answers! Although we too have surmised that all of the new cameras are based on a unified modular system.

You can laugh now!

awesome!

quite possibly, perhaps SCARLET, EPIC, and the DSMC are all one project, with disparate modular parts and price points that you can add on according to budget. This piece says (we think) SCARLET, though, so if it is a baseplate, I'm still confused how "Arri base plate" and "accessible price point" are consistent.

I think that the chances of this are incredibly remote at best. Scarlet and Epic were/are designed for very different markets with very, very different price points. To have them cross-compatible with all of each others modules, far too many compromises would have to be made in the design - something which people spending 30 to 60 thousand dollars wouldn't tolerate.

You guys are having so much fun I should post another tomorrow...

Jim

That has to be the new DMSDSVFC (did it my self digigital still, video, film cam) Jim spoke about in 2006. As we all know, the ONE doesn't look anything like this, and thus it is a hoax...

Jim its been a few days and we are getting closer to the 13th. I think its time for another taste Jim. Another obscure close up shot of an indistinguishable component please.
