A Request

Hi everyone-
Quick favor to ask...
So here's where I'm at...I got my Scarlet yesterday, but so far no Side Handle or REDMote (and I'm not getting a touchscreen for now.) I do manage to have a picture on my SmallHD via the force_hdsdi_1080 preset provided by tech support, and am eager to record something just for the heck of it! However (and this is where the favor comes in) without anyway to navigate menus so far, I can't format my SSDs in the camera. So here's what I'm asking: if you have a Scarlet-X with fw 3.0.0, can you pop in an SSD, format it, record no clips and then send me a bundled copy of the contents from your computer? I'll try to put them on one of my REDMags and see if the Scarlet will let me record then.

I realize that this is a shot in the dark and very well may not work, but it would be very cool to get to record something

Mike - any instructions? I tried just formatting as a single partition FAT32 in Disk Utility (volume name is "UNTITLED") but that didn't seem to work. I also tried R3D Data Manager, but that will only format a card that's previously been formatted in the camera.

No, they need to be formatted in the camera.

I don't remember formatting my SSD's before using them... weird. But also, buy the touch screen - it makes it SO much easier to maneuver in the menus. I use this 95 % of the time instead of my handle.

On a mac you can go into disc utilities and erase the Redmag in MAC OS FAT format. This worked fine for me
