I wouldn't say Celine Dion is "harmless". Quite the opposite! You guys can have her.

But the article has some terrible, lazy writing. If they were 'suspicious' to begin with -i.e. bring the attention of police, then they would be described as suspicious. Better writing should have said, "The deputy checked and found the out of towners to be Canadians out for an evening stroll."

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but this reminds me of my first visit to LA in 1980:
Coming from Austria via Japan and Australia on a shoot, and setting foot on US ground for the very first time, my soundman and I decided to walk `downtown´ for an evening stroll from our West Hollywood hotel. About 1,5 hrs later a cab driver stopped and asked us where we were going. We replied `downtown, LA´. When he had stopped laughing, he opened the doors and took us from what must have been Melrose and Vine to the Greyhound station, which was one of the few places open at 11:30 pm. Strolling around the area did not seem advisable, so we rode back, utterly disappointed of the movie capital of the world
