  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A Gotham Guide to: Installing the NIkon Mount for RED ONE

Doug Underdahl, creator of the Nikon mount, uses a lens tissue at the sensor and balloon blown up to fit the port which I have adopted for all my mount swaps. The balloon has the added benefit of attracting dust through static charge. Black balloons let you see the dust. I keep a bag of balloons with my mount kit.

I agree. His method is way safer with more benefits, as Michael outlines...:nuke:

I recommend the balloon method over stuffing the port with cloth but if you are in a pinch then install while the camera sits horizontal so at least if a screw falls its not likely to go inside port.

I have been in 3 situations on jobs where camera dept wants to swap out mounts during production and I managed just find while camera was still on sticks. Again not recommended, but you do what you got to do.
