(my English isn’t that good, so please bare with me :nopity
First I would to introduce myself since im new to this forum. Im a young owner of a (very) small advertising company in The Netherlands. Business is going well (creatively and financially), so im thinking of expanding.
I have worked for a couple production companies (short films and television commercials; all digital formats) were I learned the (very) basics of filmmaking. I did a lot of concepting, camera work, editing and post production (mostly FCS and After Effects). I also had the change to work with studio lighting for multiple commercials.
In march this year I’m getting a Canon 7D (just to fiddle around with the video fuction). By the end of the year I’ll have my own small studio (+/- 7 by 7 meters) were I can experiment with photography.
Now for the juicy stuff:
Im thinking of focusing (by the end of this year) on the production of (small) films and musicvideos and television commercials and that’s why im interested in buying a (Red) Camera. My total budget for camera and lenses is $ 29.000. I all ready own a mac pro (octocore, 16 MB RAM) with FCS2 and CS3 Master collection.
I want to apologize because im going to ask a lot of questions which probably can be found on the same forum im posting, but after weeks of reading and research I still found myself with some questions. Maybe I didn’t search well enough or maybe some answers are yet to be answered (by Red).
Well here we go:
-1) Im thinking of buying a Scarlet S35 with the RPP 18mm and RPP 35mm. Is this a good option for my wishes and budget? Am i missing something?
-2) Im planning to buy a L lenses for my 7D (35mm 1.4). How good a image will the canon L prime lenses be on a Red camera (Red One, Scarlet S35)? Are there .r3d files around with these lenses?
-3) Storage: will the CF cards of RED be able to record the 72 busts of the S S35? Can I use a red drive with the scarlet series? What do you need do use it (except for the drive of course)? Im asking this to figure out what the cheapest way to record is (but to be able to record the 72 burst).
-4) How much will the weight be for the Scarlet bodies (cant find it anywhere) and the modules?
-5) Does anyone know what the Taric (?) - codes will be for the scarlet body, lenses and modules. I want to know this because of the import tax I will have to pay.
-6) Are you all just as freakin excited as I am for the new cameras and lenses???
