  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A few new things...

I have not read anybody complaining about the lack of prongs on the lens mount, so I will. It's going to be difficult to unlock the lens locking ring without having a side and top prong. Especially when you have sweaty palms or gloves on. I realize the EVF cable port is probably the reason why you opted out of having prongs on the lens locking ring. But when you have any large lens on there, including the RPP's, the torque on the lens mount will make it impossible to unlock.

There really only needs to be 2 prongs, one on top and one on the camera left side. I would say those are EVEN MORE important than having a Rec. button on the camera left side. Which I am very happy you guys did afterall.

Hopefully the similarities between EPIC and Scarlet S35 means that the latter isn't too far off.

yessssss, bring on 64gb cards (and everything else). Data managers should not worry about larger solid state media, if anything this will decrease the chance for human error and make us look better. If producers want to leave set without redundancy and verification they'll go down that road regardless of media type. The good thing is that it only takes one expensive reshoot before they say "hmm what was that data manager's name again?" The sooner we can move away from spinning media the better. I never feel good on shows that can only afford drives.

Anyways, this looks amazing, really excited.

Jarred/Jim-

Sorry if this has been covered, but how does the dual CF work? Does the media automatically switch over to the "B" card if the "A" card fills up, similar to the P2?
If so, is it a clean break in the file? Does it create a new clip #? Or do you need to offload both cards, which the file spans, in order to read the file?

Looking good otherwise. Thanks,

-CJ

There's no law that say one must fill up an entire 64G CF card before switching to another one.

64GB Cards give room to breathe... Just like the above post says.. no law that says you have to fill up a card... Score RED FTW all day!

its insane that people are complaining about 64 gb cards.
nobody forces you to use them. a lot of 16 gb and 8 gb cards are around.
btw. is there a pricetag or bundle planed for the 64 gb cards?

Is that side handle slightly larger? it looks larger than earlier renders, say... to accommodate a REDVolt battery?

Wow skipping to 64gb cards. And thank you for the dual cardslots! Im sure it will be a great cheaper alternative when I want to run and gun and not attatch a module with an SSD.

I hope everyone has duly noted that it was stated earlier in the thread that the CF module shown does not have dual slots. If I am not mistaken, the side module (shown) has a single slot while the rear module will have two. Just an FYI to remember as people seem to be assuming two slots in this module.

[EDIT: Damn, I can't find the post. Well, that's what I THOUGHT I read. Can anyone else clear this up?]
