A+E has been a client for over 12 years, and that trust leads to a myriad of terrific opportunities.

Last month, we were invited to film with over a 1000 employees, and shoot/produce TWO of the company's "tapes" for their annual EMPLOYEE MEETING.

This is sort of the in-house Oscars at A+E, and only the best vendors are invited, so we were incredibly honored.

The shoots themselves were INSANE. My crew and I were engaged in a daily marathon, shooting new setups every 10 minutes, for 12 hours a day.

We shot on TWO Dragons at 5K and 6K, with a 24mm Standard Prime on A-Cam, and a 28mm Contax "Hollywood" on B-Cam (and sometimes a 21mm Contax too).

Here are the two tapes:

ps - any shaky DSLR video from this last tape isn't ours, that's from an earlier shoot!!

pps - I make a cameo @ 2:44 (haha), and you can see our rig at 3:00! We LOVE the cine saddle!

ppps - for this last tape, we literally messengered R3D's straight to Avid edit, no transcoding. Lucky for us, our edit team (at Attitude Post) have a massive eight Avid ingest system, and were able to ingest all our footage NO PROBLEM! (that's why their the best).

Much kudos as always to my terrific team - Ted Rex King, Seth Coleman, Andrew Rupinksi, and Matt Sutton. They are the heart and soul of Small Giant.

Also a shoutout to Louis Maddalena who helped out as well!

And additional kudos to Jake Blackstone, who always grades our dailies with panache!!

Hope you enjoy!

Looking good Nick!

That's a lot of setups! Loved the energy and pacing, real fun to watch :)

Thanks Michael so much!

Really loved the 2nd piece nick. Kudos to you and your team. Course, you always kill promos!!

Thanks Chris! Yeah my clients wrote the second piece themselves (and did a GREAT job!), and we had to go into action and shoot it all, furiously, for three days! Proabbly half the setups we shot didn't even make the cut! Every day there was new rewrites, and new scenes to shoot.

This was my first gig where we arrived at 8:30am every morning, and as a director I had no idea what we were going to do that day. Then we're handed a script, a shot list, and OFF WE WENT!

Totally fun. Totally madcap. Total adrenalin rush!!

Thanks to all for taking the time to watch these - really appreciate it!

Also - as a side note, turns out doing stop motion on a Dragon is pretty doable! We used a start/stop cable for exact 3 frame bursts...and it worked nicely!

Looks good Nick! And looks like total madness, which of course can be a lot of fun. Looks like a cool place to work.
