I've always used ac or redvolts - thats suited me up until now.

In a few weeks my friend is going to be giving me 5 of these batteries:
http://www.globalmediapro.com/dp/A2...HW-R-Lithium-ion-Battery-95WH-for-Red-Camera/
and a charger:
http://www.globalmediapro.com/dp/A02PH0/Dynacore-D-2S-2-channel-Charger-with-AC-Adaptor/

Now thats very nice of him.. but now I'm having a headache trying to figure out which is the best (and cheapest) solution to use them on my Scarlet. I've committed myself to a long search, and understand the different products, but I'm having a tough time seeing which one would be the most apporpriate for the Globla Media Batteries?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
(and sorry for posting something that is already talked about so much - I just haven't found the answer I'm looking for)

The solution from MG1 Concepts is, I think, the cheapest: http://www.mg1concepts.com/scarlet_vmount_stnd.html

Well, cheapest that you don't have to cobble together and jury-rig. You could just by a V-mount plate and then bolt it to something or find a way to put it on rods, but the V-mount plate alone is at least $100 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/538207-REG/IDX_P_VS2_P_VS2_V_Mount_Camera_Plate.html) and that does not include the LEMO power cable for Red, and those things are expensive.

By the way, I have the plate from MG1. It's good, it works like it's supposed to. My only complaint with it is that I would not put the camera upside-down with it on; the way the plate secures, it stays put for most positions and motions, but upside down it might not hold on. But, knowing that, if a shot needs it, a little extra rigging can keep it secure for the duration of the shot.

I have used GMP batteries (had to import them from Australia and pay 30% extra), and I have had no complaints. They are the real deal. Their customer service sucked (non-existent really), but this was in 2009. Maybe things have improved?

Hi Nick,

Which version do you have?

I have one with the side spring plunger (in RED) and if you screw it in more, it locks down securely. I have done a tons of shoots and have no problems with tricky moves with it even hanging upside down - long story. Maybe another reason, is that I have it attached permanently. I rarely take it off.

Thanks for all your responses, I appreciate all your input - certainly food for thought!

Check this out. This is what I use to connect v-mount to my Scarlet. Not perfect for all situation but pretty versatile.

Terry - with regards to the belt solution (and I really like this idea because it would suit my needs!) do you still need a battery plate to put the battery on (like a certaing wood-based-camera-company idx solution & Quck / Fixed back)?

Hi Nick,

If you have a problem with your d-plate, please contact John as he can deal with your situation. We have a new solution to lock down the plate more securely. Not sure what version you have but John will help you solve this problem in a quick and effortlessly way.

Sorry that you are having problems.

I've been using the RED1 version of this with the lemo-Scarlet/Epic adapter and GMP batteries, and the battery plate is on there, in fact if you click to view the other pic, you can see it. I like this solution so much, I fashioned a locking mechanism onto the back of my shoulder rig so I can move it between there and my belt (for hand-held) without even having to power down.

Also, a note about GMP's customer service, I did have to deal with them when my charger quit working, and I did have to pay about $50 in shipping, but they were responsive and helpful (advising me on what I should use on their batteries in the mean time), and now my charger works perfectly.

Gary, do you know how much usage-time you get with this battery (Li95S) ? 1 hour?
