  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have a Rokinon 8mm fisheye. On my R1 MX which has the bigger sensor the lens does not vignette at 4.5k, 4k etc. On the Raven, the same lens sees its own lens hood in 4.5k/4k mode. How is that possible, the Raven has the smaller sensor and technically it should be the opposite, it should be punching in on the lens more and seeing less, but instead it actually sees WIDER...am I missing something cus I'm a little groggy? :001_unsure:

*prays that Red accidentally put full frame 6-8k dragon sensor in my raven by accident* lol

Have you made sure that you looked at the lens at the same f-stop on both cameras? Also, are you comparing the recorded area? Because perhaps the Raven has a greater look around area.
I could have sworn I tried alot of different f-stops and usually I use that lens wide open anyway because it's a slow f/3.5 so I believe I was comparing it wide open. Yes I'm pretty sure it's the recorded area because I was seeing the playback as well. Is it possible that the Raven has a more distant/receded sensor and as such actually creates a wider field of view in the lenses (or something like that??). I will test it more rigorously later side by side to make sure I wasn't goofing something up

Interesting question. This is potentially very good news, just not for your lens. Haha.

Would love to hear more about this.

Light box & mount design on weapon is better especially on the edges, so you'll see the contrast better on lenses ... so optically vignetting (i.e. most wides) will become more obvioius (while frame blockages will also be more obvious).

[edit I haven't used a r1, so can't say anything about that though)
