8K playback using Dual RedRay.

Ridiculous low data rates.

Can we bank on it as 8K projectors become available?

Indeed, doubling horizontal resolution, to mantain the same aspect ratio you also double vertical. This quadrouples the overall resolution. Which is why 2k (Hd) to 4k (quad HD) the 4k has a quad even though 4 is only twice 2....

I don't see how an 8K projector would be useful unless it was on an Imax sized screen. 4K is already overkill for home theater situations.

I recently saw one of those 8k prototype sharp displays. Believe me, the difference is - HUGE -.
I wish Red would skip 6k and jump to 8k instead.

OMG it never stops!!!

:)

Can you imagine what kind of a computer you'd need for 8k renders?

6K acquisition is not a halfway step from 4K display to 8K display. 6K acquisition simply provides a higher quality 4K deliverable.

what was it paying? there isn't any camera that can acquire 8K right now. Was it all CG?

And to enforce my previous statement, at a distance of 10 feet, the average for home theater, on a 42" or even 50" screen the eye isn't really capable of seeing resolution finer than 720p let alone 4K let alone 8K. 4K at home is a sham just like the 120 hz motion "enhancement" feature, selling the public something that isn't actually useful but makes it sound like it is.
