This is a shout out to those with the 8K VV and Helium 8K's
As many of us have the burning question... to VV or to Helium the only real way to come to a decision is to see both.
It would be great for RED to do this but I know they are super busy so hopefully someone out there that has access to both can put something together, shooting the same scene twice with both cameras so we can really see what the difference is.
My dilemma like many I'm sure is how to implement the VV into existing workflows that generally use S35 lenses like S4's or Ultra Primes which would mean cropping down to 6K.
If production only wants ProRes then would the Helium S35 8K sensor give better looking ProRes than a cropped 6K VV image.
Comparisons that would be great to have a look at would be:
- Shooting Full Frame on both sensors with the same lens. (Otus 28mm would be ideal)
- Shoot S35 frame on the VV which would be full frame (full sensor) on the Helium with a Ultra Prime or other S35 lens.
