hey,

I work with RAW redcode 6k files (from the Epic Dragon, Scarlet-W) all the time in premiere and after effects. I downloaded a sample 8k link to test and neither after effects or premiere could import it.

Do I need to install something to be able to view/edit 8k files?

thanks!

I tried importing to FCPX a few days ago and the 8K files wouldn't load either. I think I recall Jarred acknowledging this and saying that the team is working on an update to allow theses new files to work. For now I think its just RED CineX.

Toia loves editing from a laptop, so maybe he just used proxies. I understand Adobe CC has a procedure for creating and working in proxies, but not sure if that works yet with Helium files.

EDIT: Watched a video about his process in an article on Red Shark news and IIRC, he may have edited in FCPX.

Really hope we're not waiting months and months for Helium R3D support in Premiere...

He does edit in FCPX...the haters need to take another look. It does just work. #werkin

'-) Don't really think it is so much a hate thing for any NLE rather than preference for one over many others.

What ever floats your boat sort of thing.

Not trying to hijack the thread -- but can FCPX handle high-level needs for larger productions yet? OMFs, DPX exports, EDL/XML support, etc? Last I checked was a few years ago and it wasn't looking good. At least half of my in-house projects require bouncing to sound designers/mixers or doing DPX exports for VFX.

ha, I'm wondering the same thing. I bought it years ago, tried it once and hated it. I haven't opened it since.
