  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

8k Editing Workstations Mobile & Desktop

Reviving threat. A client of mine is looking to buy a laptop to edit with Adobe Premiere, so seeing what good options are out there. Is 32 gigs a minimum recomandation now, or can you have just 16? What about graphics cards? Worth going top notch, or something more middle of the road? Can spend upto $3,500

The HP zbook G5 15 and 17 workstations and the Dell Precision 7530 and 7730 workstations are going to be released any day now. I saw them at NAB. They are great machines. HP had a NAB special on workstations HPNAB20 that they told me would be working through the release of the G5's. These laptops can be configured anyway you want and will get expensive. Check out the specs, make sure that you understand the difference in GTX and Quadro cards as far as performance in Adobe.

The only benefit from a quadro card vs. a GTX is more memory and 10-bit display support with Adobe PP.

I wouldn't color correct on a laptop display and when you want to do it with the laptop get a (10 bits) external monitor or OLED TV, a Razer Core X TB3 enclosure($300) and a DeckLink (4K Extreme 12G($900) / Studio 4K($600)).
