Hi there. I am looking to source 6 PL mounts. I'm trying to track down either the super speed type that has 8-holes or the newer Zeiss Compact Prime type (which is very similar). I know I can find the Compact prime ones at places like BH, but the price is too steep given what I am trying to do. Anypone have suggestions of where I can track them down at a fair price? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As a relatively low volume order specific for each cinema lens type, maybe even for some individual lens focal lengths in a lens family, the BH price is probably as fair as you are going to find. Rafael Pancretau T/A as Rafcamera in Belarus, Ken Hale at Whitehouse AV, Visual Products in the US, Les Bosher in the UK, the lens specialists who post here like Optitek and Matthew Duclos, could likely do them for you at a price which is fair to the investment of their time, learned skills, effort, standing workshop costs and precision equipment needed to make them. - Whether that price seems fair to you may be another matter. I enquired about getting an extended lathe bed done cheap in China a while back. The reply was "Yes we can do that - no problem - how many containers?" as in shipping containers worth.

Never pay the book price at BH for this kind of lens.
Contact a dealer like Abelcine and bargain the price.
As soon as you are talking a set of these lenses you will be able to get a reduction.
Usually they all start high, and I say "I can get a better price just by walking into BH, why should I buy from you?"
In the end, they always come down and I often save more than 10% off list.

Track down a local machinist. It's important to explain exactly what you need, a sample to copy is a good way to go
