Hey guys,

I'm having a hell of a time sending my sequence from FCP to Color and having my proxy files fail to play. It'll play the first clip and a half from the proxy, then it just renders a freeze frame from there on out. Don't know what the deal is, but need a fix ASAP. Anyone else have any similar issues?

Thanks.

Have you tried the 'fix looping bug in Color Project' tool in Clipfinder? There is a paid version now of Clipfinder but I think the tool is still available in the free version.

What does this have to do with the 7D?

I get the freeze frame issue in Color with long clips that span multiple R3Ds. A simple right-click and relink fixes it. Could that be your issue?

... What does this have to do with the 7D?

That's what I'm wondering too. Where is the 7D footage in the project? It's been transcoded into what flavor of ProRes?

Proxies are not very reliable (not even mentioned as a valid workflow in the whitepaper) and Color doesn't like mixed timelines. Go Prores!

NOt mentioned as a valid workflow? One of the first things it says in the white paper is to bring proxies in and then send them straight to Color, Color relinks the proxies to the R3D files...

And the 7D footage is on the same timeline and works fine...which is what is confusing me.

The Clipfinder 'Fix looping bug in Color Project' tool deals with this problem - shut down color, run the tool on the color project file, and open up again. It's an essential part of using RED footage in Color and I can't think why it hasn't been included in an update yet...

It's also possible that you've got a clip that crosses the midnight boundary. But it's more likely that yes, you need to run the ClipFinder looping fix.

I was referring to FCP.
But I'm sorry to pour some water in the wine: even after Colorfixer I've seen issues like Color crashing on rendering from proxies which were used in FCP for editing. Never happened if I use proxies relinked by Clipfinder after editing in an offline format in FCP.
