I actually hurt my back a little shooting this yesterday...i shot dozens of these and some take offs...which i will post...

other note: the sun was directly overhead so it was hard to track the plane as it hung directly over my head as the sun was blowing out my old eyes...

enjoy

<click on image and your system will download the .mov file (it is straight out of redalert so the whole things needs to download before it plays, it is only 19 megs)>

red 18-50 at 50, 5.8 was the stop with a cir pola and a 1/4 promist (it as all i had that was screw on), shutter at 45 Degrees, 2k 2:1 @120fps, 1/4 res from redalert to h.264 without any correction.

here is a second one...Turbo-prop...same settings...

very cool, but my back also hurts just watching that!!

"why did you use a promist??"

i wanted it to make it more heavenly...

May I suggest a Mitchell Vitesse Geared Head next time?

Come to think of it, even the head on my Jib will do a shot like that, and not cause your back to go out of whack.

yes of course, always the right tool for the job, however this was a stream of consciousness shoot, nothing planned, just stop the car, get the camera out, turn it on and shoot, simple as that. (hand held on the landings)

a jib in the traffic island between sepulveda and lincoln would not go over well with the dept. of homeland security, as it was the LAPD took my ID and ran me through the ringer.

here is a last one from yesterdays 2 hours of fun around the 5th busiest airport in the world.

as always...enjoy...
