  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

70-Inch Sharp 4K LED THX-Certified UHDTV

Sharp has good looking displays. Looking forward to seeing this one in person.

I wonder if they will give a hdmi 2.0 upgrade like samsung

Samsung is only doing that on their flagship 85" model with the upgradeable Smart-Pack thing. Other Smart-Pack TVs will have the ability to have it as well, but you have to pay. And at $25K for an 85", I don't think they mind giving away some stuff for "free". Kinda like Sony giving away "free" 4K media players to those who buy the 84" model. Believe me, you're paying for it. Yes, yes you are. hehe.

I have my sights set on a Sharp 4K panel... But not this 70-inch one. I'm going to wait 2 years and then pick up the 80" model for $4200. Yup.

seeing the ones they had at ces pass 2 years looked good.
The 32" they had this year thats out now. They had panoramic movie 14 5K (5120x2700 pixel) videos. These videos were shot by video producer Dorian Weber using Red Epic digital cinema cameras.
Sharp guy told me it was shot on epics and pointed out my RED lanyard I had on lol. And keep saying 35K (35,000 x 5,000 pixel) panoramic movies.
Was cool to see them zoom in to a guy on a bench.
The ICC 4k they had imprested me more then the THX. But still the 8K is the best in my eyes lol :drool5:

I hope they come out with more sizes.

8k for a true 4k TV is not bad at all, I paid 7k for my Samsung 55" 9000 series few years back.

The issue to really con side carefully here is what are you going to use it for?

If for grading you then need a TV/Monitor that does allow for pristine image calibration, if just for viewing your 4k material off the Redray, then the requirement is not as of considerable importance, yet relevant, but as an example I would never use a cheap so called 4k tv/monitor, as some of those that have popped up.

the issue with sharp is build quality. who cares how nice the screen is if light is bleeding from all the edges :P
