Hi there. . .

I'm thinking of buying a used Scarlet-X, but I have a choice between two monitors: A 7" Pro non-touchable and the usual 5" touch monitor.

Should I have a strong preference either way?

Thanks.

Stephen

Given those two choices, I personally would choose the 5" touch. I've always used the touch screen more than any other option to control the camera, even when I had a side handle. YMMV.

Thanks, Mark. Is it pretty difficult to control things on the camera without a touch-screen?

It's not difficult if you have a side-handle, but the touch is the easiest and fastest for sure.

Can you do it without a side handle or a touch? For those situations when the camera is on a gimbal?

Thanks.

You would need either a redmote (which is not a way I would ever rely on) or the redbridge/redlink or a hotlink plus the fool control app for iPhone. I use this A LOT for gimbal work as you can have your AC wirelessly control nearly all functions of the camera (some internal settings are not there yet). However, I wouldn't only rely on this method, as sometimes wifi/your iPhone could not connect properly leaving you no way to control the camera. I would ALWAYS have either a touch or side-handle available. Also, you CAN"T update your camera firmware settings without a touch or side handle so keep that in mind.

The decision has been made. . . the 5" it is.

Thanks for the advice gents!

Stephen
