I'm struggling here - I am transcoding a talking head interview to ProRes 422, and the transcoding times through both Premiere Pro CC 2014 and Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 are borderline offensive. The same 11 minute clip took a touch over 19minutes to transcode in FCP-X from R3D to 422 (I didn't render optimized files or previews FCP). Yes, ProRes is Apple's native format but this is killing me.
No real effects - only some unsharp mask.
23.976fps 4K capture scaled to 1080p HD in Premiere Pro, then exported to 24 bit ProRes 422. Render at Maximum Depth and Use Maximum Render Quality are both unchecked. Quality is 100.
Google searches and the Adobe boards confirm that this is a major problem for PP and AME.
I am working on a 5k iMac, 4GHz i7, 16GB of memory (13 allocated to PP/AME) on a 3TB Fusion Drive - Final Cut Pro X and until recently Premiere/Adobe Media Encoder ran relatively quickly.
Any insight would be huge. This is driving me nuts!
