6k 100fps data usage per second

Hello,

I am considering renting a EPIC-M Dragon to shoot some video at 6k and 100fps, I will need to be shooting continuously for approximately 5 minutes (or less) and I am trying to determine what size SSD I will need for this task and what the megabytes per second usage would be at this rate.

Also any suggestions on the best item to rent to remotely start recording would be greatly appreciated. I will be in an environment where I will not be directly next to the camera and there will be other wireless devices in use including cellphones and camera radio triggers. help is greatly appreciated.

You'll need to shoot 6K WS (ie 2.4:1 aspect) to get 6k and 100fps. With good light and using lenses with a large image circle, this will be a good option.

512 gb mini ssd - 10 x 5 minute takes per mag, 14:1 compression
256 gb ssd - 6 x 5 minute takes per mag, 17:1 compression


If you need 100 fps and 16:9 aspect, your best bet is 5K 2:1 with a little crop off the edges in post.

There you'll get the same record time, but better redcode - in low light and/or with certain lenses with less coverage you'll be better off like this.

If the target is 4K 2.40:1 it would be interesting to compare 6K WS @ 14:1 RC vs 5K WS @ 11:1 RC, both downscaled to 4K 2.40:1

The first has higher compression but higher spatial resolution so better downsampling ratio...mmm...any first hand experience on this?

My intent for the project is actually to use software after the fact to make a slit scan style still image, so I'm looking for the most resolution possible at the highest frame rate possible..... so would something that is less then 100fps yield me higher resolution? what compression do we think would be best for this? I'm sorry but I'm just starting to learn video and trying to feel my way through this. Thanks.
