  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

$640 Shoulder Rig for Red Epic !!! but where to put Monitor?

Don't you think that the rod structure would bend and be quind of elastic when mooving harshly around with the camera?

Pat

PS: the LCD could go on a noga arm easely.

Hello ,
Don't buy Indian Cage because quality of AL very poor and soft
Black paint will sully Your hand . After two week use You will have lost paint on some parts .
Best is IKAN TILTA or Ginirig

Pay a bit more, cry once. Pay a bit less then cry again when you need to replace it a few months later. Wise words you will hear on the lips of anyone with some experience in these matters.

Benzo gave me this advice a couple of years ago at Reducation.

Definitely true for the most part, especially when you have to work the gear really hard.

I, too, admit, albeit a little sheepishly, that most of the "bargain" parts I have purchased in the last two years for my Scarlet are sitting in a box; either because the quality was poor, or more often, because they are slightly off in some measurement (drilling, thickness, size, etc) so that they just don't fit smoothly into the rest of my system. Specifically, GiniRig parts fall into this latter category. The build is really pretty good but they just don't play well with some RED and WC parts.

Buy into a solid, good quality system would be my advice.

I own the camtree hunt. It's actually really good. Has a really solid build structure (surprisingly) The only thing I can complain about is the shoulder pad is uncomfortable and the glue on mine is coming off. But I will probably replace it with a softer shoulder pad anyway. Also the battery mount that comes with it isn't connected to anything. So I took my RED battery belt clip and attached it to the rails on the back and works perfectly :) In regards to the arm, I bought myself a small arm (you can also buy the RED ones) and you can attach it to the cage that comes with the kit. The base plate for the camera and top plate have heaps of threads so that's usually when I put mine.

I have the WC shoulder rig and I looked around for months before buying. I know its about twice as much as some of this stuff but I have never had any problems and it is really solid. Im never worried about something bending or breaking or paint coming off. Just a really solid built tool.
One more thing to mention is I feel that if I decide to change my rig Ill be able to get a pretty fair price when I sell it. Maybe something to consider when you go for a less expensive tool for your camera.

oops my bad. I though he was asking about the total use of the rig with a monitor.
Noga or magic arm does work well in most cases mounted off of the camera by the looks of what is useable for a 1/4 20 or 3/8th there doesnt seem to be any on that rig.
